Hapless salaryman-turned-manga creator returns in series of 1-shot stories

I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow manga creator Shunju Aono launched the Ore wa Motto Honki Dashitenai Dake series in the February 2013 issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki on December 25. Yasuto Miura also launched the Hakka Shōjo manga in the same issue. Aono's original Ore wa Mada Honki Dashitenai Dake (I'll Give It My All... Tomorrow) comedy manga ended in the August issue in June.

The Ore wa Motto Honki Dashitenai Dake spinoff manga is a series of one-shot stories that follow the original manga's protagonist Shizuo and the people around him. The first story focuses on Shizuo and Tatsuhiko Mori during Shizuo's time as a salaryman.

Aono's original manga centers on the hapless 41-year-old father of a 17-year-old girl. Shizuo dreams of being a manga creator while spending his days writing and working at a menial part-time job.

A live-action film adaptation of the manga will premiere in Japan on June 15. Shinichi Tsutsumi (SP series, Always: Sunset on Third Street) stars in this film from director Yūichi Fukuda (Yūsha Yoshihiko to Maō no Shiro, One Pound Gospel, Saru Lock, The 3-Mei-sama: Anime wa Anime de Arissho!, Waimo-kun~Kiiroi Kao Shite Babanban). The acoustic guitar duo Gontiti (Nobody Knows, TO-Y, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou) is scoring the music.

Aono launched the original manga in Monthly Ikki in 2007, and the fifth compiled volume shipped in Japan this past September. Viz Media is publishing the series in North America, and the fifth volume is slated to ship on July 16.
