Richard T. Jones joins cast in monster flick

Principal photography for Gareth Edward's Godzilla remake began in British Columbia on Monday, and local news coverage and a set video previewed more of the set. The crew is currently shooting in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, an area chosen due to its railways.

The entertainment news source Variety reported on Thursday that actor Richard T. Jones (Super 8, Why Did I Get Married Too?, Vantage Point) is joining the Godzilla cast. Jones will play a character in the military.

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. confirmed on Monday that actor Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, Letters to Iwo Jima, Memoirs of a Geisha) joined the film's cast. Previously revealed cast members also include David Strathairn (Lincoln, The Bourne Ultimatum, Good Night, and Good Luck.), Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Chocolat, Cosmopolis), actress Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene, Oldboy), lead actor Aaron-Taylor Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Argo).

The film is still scheduled to open on May 16, 2014.
