Crunchyroll to Stream Teekyū Anime's 2nd Season

New season of tennis team comedy anime to premiere on July 7

The media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream the second season of the Teekyū television anime series. Crunchyroll will premiere the series on Sunday, July 7 at 10:30 a.m. EDT for premium members. The series will then be available to other viewers a week later. Crunchyroll will stream the series for viewers in North America, South America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

The sequel anime and the first season both adapt Roots and Piyo's manga of the same name that centers around a girls' tennis team. (The title is a wordplay on a Japanese term for tennis, teikyū.) However, the four high school girls on the team hardly play any actual tennis.

All of the main cast will be returning for the second season, with Kana Hanazawa (Steins;Gate, Sketchbook ~full color'S~) as Marimo Bandō, Kyōko Narumi (Ketsuekigata-kun!, Amnesia) as Nasuno Takamiya, Suzuko Mimori (Love Live! School idol project, Btooom!) as Kanae Shinjō, and Yui Watanabe (30-sai no Hoken Taiiku, Penguindrum) as Yuri Oshimoto.

The anime will premiere in Japan on July 7.

Piyo launched the manga in Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star magazine in early 2012, and the first anime season was announced just months later on the manga's first book volume. Earth Star Entertainment claims that this is the fastest television anime adaptation ever. The fourth volume of the manga shipped in Japan on June 12. Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired in Japan.
