Artist Claims Spike Lee's Oldboy Poster Designs Came From Him

posted on by Egan Loo

Graphic designer Juan Luis Garcia claimed in an open letter to director Spike Lee that he created several posters that were used without his permission for Lee's Oldboy film. Garcia's post asserts that he was hired by an advertising firm to create the posters over a two-month period, but chose to decline the use of his work when he felt the pay was below the standard. Garcia claims that he uploaded the posters to his online portfolio, and later found that they were being used on the film's Facebook page.
