Dragon Quest Creator: No Talk of XI on Smartphones

Square Enix producer Takehiro Andō posted a Famitsu App column about Dragon Quest on smartphones on Monday, a week after the Android release of Dragon Quest X. Now that a main numbered title in the franchise has been released on smartphones and tablets, he asked Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii about the possibility of another one heading to smartphones.
Horii responded, "I don't think that it's as easy as it sounds. At the current stage, there are no talks about making [Dragon Quest] XI for smartphones. I believe that there's still plenty left to overcome before we release a proper sequel for smartphones." He emphatically added that smartphones are not game consoles. "I don't think they'll be replacing game consoles, but rather, I believe it's a matter of offering something to those who only have smartphones."
