PS4 Sells 4.2 Million Units, Xbox One Sells 3 Million

Sony announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 in Las Vegas that as of December 28, 4.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles have sold worldwide. The company reported 2.1 million worldwide sales as of December 3 and one million sales in the first 24 hours of its launch in the United States and Canada in November. Research group DFC announced the PS4 as the largest console launch in history.
Sony also reported 9.7 million individual game sales (retail and digital) and that PlayStation Plus memberships increased 90% since the system's launch.
Microsoft announced on its official blog on Monday that its Xbox One has sold over three million units (from its launch until the end of 2013) and is the fastest-selling console in the United States during the launch month in November. Microsoft added that the console sold more than one million units within 24 hours of launch.
