Anime Expo to Host Ghost in the Shell: SAC Writer Yoshiki Sakurai & Giovanni's Island Film

Anime Expo announced Wednesday that it will host screenwriter Yoshiki Sakurai at its annual convention this July. The convention will hold an autograph session and question and answer panel featuring Sakurai.
Anime Expo will also screen his most recent film, Giovanni's Island. In addition to co-writing the script with Shigemichi Sugita, the adventure film marks Sakurai's debut as a producer.
Sakurai joined Production I.G in 2002. He wrote scripts for various works in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex franchise, including the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex television series, the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Individual Eleven video anime, and the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society film. He also wrote screenplays for episodes of television anime including Blood+, xxxHOLiC, and Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit. Sakurai's anime film credits include scripts for Redline and xxxHOLiC the Movie: A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Guests at this year's Anime Expo include Studio 4°C producer Eiko Tanaka and the original Sailor Moon television anime series' English dub cast. The convention will be held on July 3-6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
