Sega to Release Shining Resonance RPG With Artist Tony Taka

posted on by Emma Hanashiro
Tony returns to draw maiden & dragon united by song

This week's issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine is announcing that Japanese video game developer Sega will release a new role-playing game titled Shining Resonance as part of its Shining game franchise. Tony Taka will return to the Shining series as the character designer along with Tsuyoshi Sawada as the game's producer.

The game's protagonists are Kōryū Iruban, a dragon, and Kiriha Towa Aruma, a maiden who is the inheritor of an ancient legacy of songs. The power of music will strengthen these friends through resonance. The magazine quotes Kiriha, "I'm sorry, but I have no interest in humans. All I want to know is a dragon's heart…."

Billed as a "Dragon and Musical Instrument" game, Shining Resonance will feature seamless transitions from field to battle sequences. The official release date of the game has not been announced yet.

Sega launched its Shining game franchise with Shining in the Darkness in 1991, and the latest games, Shining Blade and Shining Ark, shipped for the PSP in 2012 and 2013. One of the role-playing games, Shining Hearts, inspired the Shining Hearts: Shiawase no Pan- television anime.

Update: Shining Ark was also released in 2013. Thanks, Otaku-sama
