Japanese financial news source Nikkei reported on Thursday that Universal Studios Japan in Osaka will host a limited-time exhibit next year called "Universal Cool Japan."
The official Twitter account for the Attack on Titan anime series has revealed that the theme park will host a "Shingeki no Kyojin the Real" attraction for visitors to experience "the fear and despair" of the series "right in front of their eyes." The Twitter account also linked to an official website on Universal Studios Japan, but the link is not yet active.
The new large-scale event, which will be held from January 23 through May 10, will focus on popular anime franchises such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Attack on Titan. The event will include physical statues of objects from the franchises as well as personal attractions. The event will also include attractions for the Monster Hunter and Biohazard (Resident Evil) video game series.
The new attraction aims to gather more visitors during the theme park's off season period.
Universal Studios Japan recently opened the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter area on July 15. Currently the theme park is also hosting a One Piece Summer Adventure attraction until September 30. The park will also host a new Resident Evil exhibition titled "Biohazard the Real 2" from August 8 to November 9.
Update: Added more information about Attack on Titan attraction from official Twitter account.
