Durarara!! Gets New PS Vita Game in 3D in January

Durarara!! Relay lets player switch characters in original story

The September issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko Magazine is announcing on Saturday that the Durarara!! light novel and anime franchise is getting a new game, Durarara!! Relay, for the PS Vita next January. Unlike the previous Durarara!! game, this adventure game will feature 3D characters and game screens.

The game gets its name from the Relay System, which has the player switching characters in every chapter of the game. The game will tell an original story that was not in the light novel series or the anime. The story is set in Tokyo's Ikebukuro neighborhood in January, when Mikado, Masaomi and Anri face their school's third term opening ceremony. In town, Russia Sushi's Simon hands out leaflets, and Shizuo tosses around vending machines; the usual everyday scenes unfold. At the 60-story cinema, Yuhei Hanejima and Ruri Hijiribe star in the January movie Case Bodyguard 2: Salaryman Ninja Guy, with many people waiting to see it. And every day, Celty handles one assignment after another to deliver items in briefcases.

The main cast is returning from the television anime:

The franchise already inspired the Durarara!! 3way standoff -alley- game on the PSP in 2010. That earlier game spawned a manga by Izuco Fujiya (Kataribe no List) and a PS Vita port.
