New World RPG App Launches With .hack Series' Kite

Bandai Namco Entertainment launched its .hack series-inspired iOS and Android game New World: Vol. 1 Ginrui no Otome (Maiden of Silver Tears) on Friday. The .hack series protagonist Kite appears in the game as a log-in bonus who will appear on the home screen and can join the player's party.

The game is the first installment of "Project N.U.," which features concept and world design are inspired by the .hack series. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (.hack//SIGN, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Summer Wars) is designing characters for the 3D RPG and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm developer CyberConnect2 is collaborating on the project.
In the game the protagonist, the player's "other self," appears in the world and meets a girl with silver eyes. Her voice calls forth a secret hidden from the world, and grants the protagonist forbidden power.
