Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Spinoff Novel About Ryū Gets Manga

posted on by Karen Ressler
Novel serialized online this year

Square Enix's Gangan Online website announced earlier this month that the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? spinoff novel Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darō ka? Ryū Gaiden: Gran Casino o Buttsubuse! (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Ryū Side Story: Crush the Grand Casino!) will get a manga adaptation.

GA Bunko began serializing the novel on Gangan Online on January 21, and the story ended after six chapters. Writer Fujino Ōmori and illustrator Suzuhito Yasuda, the team behind the original novel series, also created the spinoff. The story focuses on the original novel's Ryū Lyon, a former adventurer and waitress at the Hostess of Fertility. One day, the quiet pub is disrupted by the loud voices of a human man and woman.

Gangan Online publishes the manga adaptations of the original Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? novel series and the other spinoff novel series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Sword Oratoria. It also publishes the four-panel manga Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darō ka? 4-Koma: Kamisama no Nichijō (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? 4 Panel: Gods' Everyday Life).

The original novel series debuted in Japan in 2013, and inspired a television anime adaptation in 2015. Yen Press is publishing the original novel series, the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Sword Oratoria spinoff light novel series, and Kunieda's manga adaptation of the original light novel series in North America.
