Atlus USA began streaming a video for AQUAPLUS' Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception (Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen) game on Wednesday. The video highlights the Imperial Capital — a central location in the game's story — and also features dialogue scenes.

The game will ship on May 23 in North America and Europe. Atlus also plans to release Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth (Utawarerumono: Futari no Hakuoro), the third installment in the Utawarerumono trilogy, later this year. Both games will ship on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in both physical and digital formats in the Americas. However, the games will have only physical PlayStation 4 releases and digital PlayStation Vita releases in Europe. The releases will feature the original Japanese audio with English text.

AQUAPLUS released Utawarerumono: Futari no Hakuoro on the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita in Japan on September 21. Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen shipped for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita in Japan in September 2015.

The 25-episode television anime adaptation of Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen premiered in Japan in October 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks released the series with an English dub under the title Utawarerumono: The False Faces on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on April 25.

AQUAPLUS released the original Utawarerumono game in 2002 for PC. The game inspired a 2006 television anime series and a 2009 original video anime series. ADV Films originally licensed the first Utawarerumono TV anime, but FUNimation Entertainment later picked up the license.

The original Utawarerumono adventure simulation game takes place in a world where people have animal ears and tails, and rival generals battle for supremacy.
