Funimation Lists Hundred, Taboo Tattoo for BD/DVD Release

posted on by Karen Ressler
Both series listed with English dubs

Funimation is listing Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack releases for the Hundred and Taboo Tattoo anime. Both are listed with both English and Japanese language tracks.

Hundred will ship on December 19. The show initially premiered in April 2016 and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

The 12-episode series adapts Jun Misaki's light novel series of the same name. Funimation describes the story:

Hayato Kisaragi has what it takes to control the only effective weapon against devastating creatures known as the Savage. But his high Hundred compatibility won't be enough to help him survive the girls of Little Garden academy!

Tomoki Kobayashi (Akame ga KILL!, Utawarerumono) directed the series at Production IMS. Hideki Shirane (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Date A Live) handled series composition and Norie Tanaka (chief animation director for Absolute Duo, M3 the dark metal) was in charge of character design. Shuhei Naruse composed the music for the anime and DIVE II Entertainment handled music production.

Funimation will release Taboo Tattoo on December 5. The series premiered in July 2016 and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

The 12-episode series adapts Shinjirō's Taboo Tattoo manga, which Yen Press publishes in North America. Funimation describes the story:

Nothing burns hotter in the heart of Justice Akatsuka than the desire to do the right thing. When he's stuck with a tattoo that holds an incredible power, he's dragged into an international conspiracy that pushes him beyond the limits of right and wrong.

Takashi Watanabe (The Slayers, Shakugan no Shana, Freezing, Heavy Object) directed the series at the anime studio J.C. Staff. Shinya Hasegawa (Golden Time, Revolutionary Girl Utena) designed the characters, and Mayori Sekijima (Skip Beat!, Pandora Hearts) and Masamitsu Ōtake handled the series composition and scripts. Shinji Hosoe composed the music.
