posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official Twitter account for the live-action film adaptation of Rensuke Oshikiri's Misumisō horror manga revealed the character that Rinka Ōtani (seen below) will play in the film on Monday. Ōtani will play the character Taeko Oguro, a queen-like figure in her class heirarchy.
The rest of the cast includes:
Hiroya Shimizu as Mitsuru Aiba, Haruka's classmate who secretly supports her.
Rena Ōtsuka, Seina Nakata, Ayaka Konno, Arisa Sakura, Kenshin Endō, Kazuki Ōtomo, Masato Endō, Aki Morita, Masahiro Toda, Reiko Kataoka, and Minori Terada will play as-yet unspecified roles in the film.
The film's official website previously streamed a teaser video last month.
Eisuke Naitō (live-action Lychee Light Club) is directing the film, with a script by Miako Tadano. The film opens in Japan on April 7. Takako Tate will perform the film's theme song "Michinori" (Distance).
The manga centers on Haruka Nozaki, a young middle school girl who, due to her father's job, has to transfer from her school in Tokyo to a school that is about to close, located in a rural town. As an outsider, she immediately faces severe bullying. Not wanting to cause trouble for her sister and the rest of her family, Haruka had planned to just ignore them until graduation. But when the bullying escalates, her parents die in a fire, while her sister survives with severe burns. Haruka then plans her revenge.
Oshikiri launched the manga in Bunkasha's Horror M magazine in 2007 and ended it in 2009. Bunkasha published three compiled book volumes for the manga, and Futabasha re-released the manga in two volumes in 2013.
