The official website for the 2019 television anime of Minatsuki and As Futatsuya's Dōkyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. (My Housemate Is on My Lap, But Sometimes on My Head) manga began streaming three teaser promotional videos on Saturday. The three videos — an overall one, and one each from the points of view of the main characters Subaru and Haru — reveal the anime's main voice cast and musical composer.

The main cast stars:

Kensho Ono as Subaru Mikazuki

Haruka Yamazaki as Haru

Kotoringo (In This Corner of the World) is composing the music. The videos above preview the anime's main theme.

The manga centers on socially awkward novelist Subaru Mikazuki, who adopts a stray cat. He names it Haru, and they begin their life together. As with the manga, each episode of the anime will have both a "Subaru" and "Haru" chapter that will tackle the story from the point of view of both characters.

Kaoru Suzuki (Pupipō!, DIVE!!) is directing the anime at Zero-G. Deko Akao (Flying Witch, Amanchu!, Noragami) is in charge of series composition. Masaru Kitao (Death Note, Dances with the Dragons) is designing the characters.

Minatsuki and Futatsuya first published a one-shot manga with the same title in Comic Polaris in October 2014, before launching it as a serialized manga in June 2015. Holp Shuppan published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on January 24.

The 2017 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook ranked the manga as #16 in its top 20 list of manga for female readers in 2016. Honya Club's "Zenkoku Shotenin ga Eranda Osusume Comic 2017" (Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2017) poll for bookstore employees also ranked the comic at #3 in 2017.
