Type-Moon's Fate mystery spinoff ends in 10th volume in May before anime series

A stage play adaptation of Lord El-Melloi II-sei no Jikenbo (Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files), Makoto Sanda's mystery novel spinoff series in Type-Moon's Fate franchise, has been green-lit for this winter.

The novels center on the titular character Lord El-Melloi II, the adult Waver Velvet from Fate/Zero, and successor of Kayneth, as well as Lord El-Melloi II's apprentice Gray. The story takes place in the Clock Tower, the Mage's Association's headquarters in England. There, Lord El-Melloi II and Gray solve various mysteries of a magical nature surrounding the Mage's Association.

Sanda published the first novel in the series in December 2014. The ninth novel shipped on December 31, and Type-Moon Books will publish the 10th and final volume on May 17. Kadokawa Bunko is also publishing a smaller page-size bunko-ban edition over the course of five months, starting this month.

Tō Azuma launched a manga adaptation of the novels in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine in October 2017, and Kadokawa published the manga's third volume on January 10.

The Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace note television anime series adaptation will premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and MBS in July, and "Episode 0" of the anime premiered during a television special on December 31. Crunchyroll will stream the main anime series as it airs in Japan, and "Episode 0" is already available in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
