Season 3 of the Attack on Titan television anime ended on Monday, and a special preview video announced that Attack on Titan The Final Season will air on the NHK-General channel in fall 2020.
Attack on Titan manga creator Hajime Isayama previewed the rough layout draft for the final panel of the manga series on the MBS documentary program Jōnetsu Tairiku in November. The official Twitter account for the program had teased before its airing that the manga is entering its final arc.
The first television anime season premiered in April 2013, and the second season premiered in April 2017. The first part of the third season premiered last July, and the second half premiered in Japan on the NHK General channel on April 28. Funimation, Crunchyroll, and Hulu are streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
Crunchyroll describes the most recent season:
The battle to retake Wall Maria begins now! With Eren's new hardening ability, the Scouts are confident they can seal the wall and take back Shiganshina District. If they succeed, Eren can finally unlock the secrets of the basement—and the world. But danger lies in wait as Reiner, Bertholdt, and the Beast Titan have plans of their own. Could this be humanity's final battle for survival?
Funimation has acquired the home entertainment, video on demand, and broadcast rights of the series in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu streamed the first part of the third season as it aired, and Funimation streamed an English dub. Adult Swim's Toonami block aired the series beginning last August.
