Gundam: Battle Operation 2 game gets digital release this year

Bandai Namco Entertainment America revealed at its Anime Expo panel on Friday that Bandai Namco Entertainment is developing the One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam, and it will also release the game in the United States. Bandai Namco Entertainment America also announced that it is releasing the Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 game in America.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 will include stories, characters, and environments from some of the latest arcs in the One Piece anime, including the "Whole Cake Island" arc.

Namco Bandai Games released the first One Piece Pirate Warriors game in Japan on PS3 and later in Europe and America in 2012. The second game shipped in Japan for PS3 and PS Vita and in Europe and North America for PS3 in 2013. Bandai Namco Entertainment released One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 for the PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and on PC (via Steam) in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australasia in August 2015. The game shipped in Japan in March 2015 for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. The game launched on the Nintendo Switch in Japan in December 2017.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 is a sequel to the Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation and Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Next games, and it will be available as a free-to-play digital download title via the PlayStation Store this year. Bandai Namco Entertainment America describes the game:

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 builds on the critically acclaimed land-based combat of its predecessor and takes the 6v6 action up a notch with all-new space-based battles. Infantry battles add a new dimension to the in-game combat, giving pilots the ability to take part in the fight alongside mechas, placing bombs in enemy bases or requesting support fire to help decide the outcome of the battle. Additionally, customizable Mobile Suits offer players the opportunity to enhance their favorite mecha through Development Points earned in battle.

Bandai Namco Entertainment released the game on the PS4 in Japan in July 2018.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation was the first free-to-play game for the Gundam franchise. In the game, four to six players could join either the Earth Federation or Zeon Forces to play against each other. Players could not only pilot the giant Mobile Suits of the Gundam world, but could also attack enemies in vehicles or even on foot. The game launched in Japan for the PS3 in June 2012, and ceased operations in July 2017. A sequel game titled Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Next debuted for the PS4 and PS3 in August 2015, and ceased operations on March 28.
