San Jose, CA (May 5th, 2012) – FanimeCon announced today that illustrator Mamoru Yokota and GAINAX founder Hiroyuki Yamaga will appear at FanimeCon, held this Memorial Day weekend, May 25-28.

A Guest of Honor at FanimeCon since 2010, Mamoru Yokota is a multifaceted individual in the world of anime. He has been a character designer, producer, and animation director that has worked on many popular titles, such as Death Note, the Air movie, Kanon, Magical Canan, and Kiddy Grade. Mr. Yokota has hosted widely popular late night panels and members rave about his intricate illustrations and elaborate sketches.

Hiroyuki Yamaga has been an honored guest of FanimeCon since in 1997. He was unfortunately absent from the convention in 2011 but his return in 2012 marks 15 years as a FanimeCon Guest of Honor. Mr. Yamaga has recently been busy as the Executive Producer and Project Planner of EA's Rock, GAINAX's first live-action sentai comedy drama. In the past, Mr. Yamaga has worked on many aspects of anime production within GAINAX, serving as the Executive Producer on FLCL and the Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth movie. He has also worked on screenplays for Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 and Royal Space Force, Wings of Honneamise, in addition to directing a number of shows, including Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi and Mahoromatic. Mr. Yamaga continues to expand his repertoire of talents with plans to direct “The Rhine Gold” from Richard Wagner's “The Ring of the Nibelung.” It is currently slated to open in late November 2012.

Both of the returning Guests of Honor are excited to interact with FanimeCon members once more in their panels and autograph sessions. Programming for Mamoru Yokota and Hiroyuki Yamaga will be available at http://www.fanime.com closer to the convention.
