‘Mazinger Z’ Comes to U.S. Cinemas With ‘INFINITY’ for Two Special Screenings February 11 and 12
DENVER – January 18, 2017 – Mazinger Z, one of the original and most loved super robot mecha from the '70s, is coming to U.S. cinemas for the first time this February. Released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Mazinger franchise, “Mazinger Z: INFINITY,” will be presented in movie theaters nationwide on Sunday, February 11 at 12:55 p.m. and Monday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. (all local times, English-subtitled both dates). In addition to viewing the full-length anime feature, moviegoers will also receive an exclusive Mazinger Z event poster (while supplies last).
Tickets for “Mazinger Z: INFINITY” can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in nearly 500 select movie theaters. A complete list of theater locations is available on the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
Ten years ago, the villainous scientist Dr. Hell led his wicked followers, known as the “Underground Empire,” in a struggle to destroy all of humanity. It was against these forces that the young hero Koji Kabuto fought, piloting the legendary super robot “Mazinger Z.” Koji's victory stopped Dr. Hell's evil plan and returned peace to the Earth.
Now Koji has left the pilot seat behind and become a scientist in his own right, following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps. Yet an unexpected encounter deep under Mt. Fuji triggers an even greater threat to mankind than ever before and alters Koji's destiny forever. With humanity's fate in their hands, Koji and Mazinger Z face a choice between good… and evil.
“We are excited to partner once again with VIZ Media on an exciting anime project,” said Fathom Events VP of Programming Kymberli Frueh. “We have seen an overwhelming fan response to anime titles and cannot wait to bring ‘Mazinger Z’ to enthusiastic audiences nationwide.”
