+/- Junkie (manga) Good Mangas read that ANN didn't list: Araragi Express - Very Good Beta - Good Bio-Meat - Excellent Black City - Very Good Kidnapping of Minja-jo's boyfriend - Good Knighting Knight - Good Kobatotei Ibun - Excellent Koi - Very Good Koi Suru Piano - Good Koigokoro Fantasia - Good Koorihime Kitan - Very Good System of Romance - Good Review of the series: Fairly short and easy read. Standard love manga, with plenty of comedy and surprises thrown in.
07-Ghost (manga) So-so
2001 Nights (manga) Decent Don't remember much about this either...
20th Century Boys (manga) Excellent
21st Century Boys (manga) Very good
3x3 Eyes (manga) Very good
5 Centimeters per Second (manga) Very good
51 Ways to Save Her (manga) Good
(The) Abnormal Super Hero Hentai Kamen (manga) Good This manga is hilarious in how ridiculous it is. If you thought golden boy was bad, this just knocks things to a whole new level. Art is pretty bad, but there is enough things going on (or only one thing) that completely negate its flaws.
Ai Kora (manga) Good
Ai Yori Aoshi (manga) Excellent Great harem manga, with gratuitous amounts of nudity (seriously surprised me). The characters are all memorable, with little quriks that make them lovable. Art style is nice, easy to read and follow along. And the story, although not necessarily unique, doesn't get boring nor do things drag on for longer than it should. All in all, a nice enjoyable read, if you like this genre.
Ai-Ren (manga) Very good
Aiki (manga) Good
Air Gear (manga) Very good
Aishiteruze Baby (manga) Good Decent manga about high school life, I really thought Yuzuyu was cute and wouldn't mind at all a sister like that. The other characters beside Kokoro didn't play much of a role, but they were all pretty interesting. Fairly worth reading...
Ajin: Demi-Human (manga) Very good
Akira (manga) Very good Great manga, although it seemed to drag at times. Lots of death, destruction, and great fights. Everything happens on an epic scale here, and a lot of things are fairly confusing. Also it's fairly old, but the characters are all very interesting, and everything meshes together nicely. A must read.
Akumetsu (manga) Very good
Alichino (manga) Decent This was a pretty good manga, but since it doesn't really end, it loses points in my book. It had an intriguing story that could have been so much more.
Alive (manga by T Takahashi) Very good whew... this manga wasn't bad at all. Short, dark, but right to the point. There wasn't a single wasted frame, everything was there telling the story and pushing things along. One of the fastest manga I've read, and one of the better ones. Recommended for people who like things involving the supernatural with a little bit of light thrown into a whole lot of dark.
Alive (manga by T Kawashima) Very good
All You Need Is Kill (manga) Very good
Angel Densetsu (manga) Excellent
Angel Sanctuary (manga) Very good This manga definetly drags at times, especially since some arcs seem superfluous and add nothing to the series. The fights are nice when they're executed well, but I finished this still feeling like I was missing a lot of information. The art is fairly nice, but not top-notch.
Angelic Layer (manga) Very good Kind of kiddish, but I still really liked it because the fight scenes were fairly interesting, and the character progression wasn't half bad. Artwork is also clean and airy, which makes this an easy read. Recommended for most people.
Anne Freaks (manga) Very good This manga is pretty interesting, especially the dynamic between the 2 main characters. Both of them are pretty screwed up, and the whole manga is fairly dark, but nothing was too over the top.
Another (manga) Very good
Apocalypse Meow (manga) Very good Interesting manga, different from most other ones out there. Almost seems as if an American wrote it since it details the vietnam war. Not to mention a major army nut since a lot of the terminology and information are highly accurate... But an interesting read, and worth your while...
Appleseed (manga) Excellent The artwork might seem a bit old, but inside is a heart of gold (hey that rhymes!!!!!). Deunan is a total hottie, and the action scenes are very nice. The world he paints in this manga is great as usual, I actually think it's better than the one in Ghost in the Shell.
Aqua (manga) Very good Reminiscent of YKK, another slice of life manga that may be slow for some people, but soothing for others. Beautiful artwork, wonderful character design, and an immerseful world make this a manga to be read.
Arcana (manga, Yua Kotegawa) Excellent I love this manga. The main character is so funny, and the female lead is also good for a bunch of laughs. Nakabayashi also provides great comic relief whenever he shows up. There are some serious moments, but the manga ends on a lightherted note, as strong an ending as it did begin.
Aria (manga) Very good
Astro Boy (manga) Very good
Azumanga Daioh (manga) Very good
Bad Company (manga) Good Not the same quality as GTO, but as a prequel, it still offers quite a bit of backstory on the everfun Onizuka.
Bakuman. (manga) Excellent
Bakune Young (manga) So-so
Banana Fish (manga) Decent
Banya: The Explosive Delivery Man (manhwa) Good I usually don't read Manhwa, but this one was just my taste and better than average. Banya is a decent main character, funny, kick-ass, with some interesting companions. Art was decent, not as good as your standard Japanese stuff, but still readable. What really held this back was the disjointed storyline. It seemed thrown together instead of having an actual flow. Still, not a bad read.
BAOH (manga) Very good Reminiscent of Jojo's bizzare adventure (same mangaka), which explains most of what you need to know. A manga for men, with plenty of death and destruction. Not as good as Jojo, but there is still plenty of exciting fight scenes and interesting characters to make this a worthwhile read.
Barairo My Honey (manga by Tomu Ohmi) Good Nothing really special here, girl meets rich guy, girl fights rich guys family, girl marries rich guy. Yes, the tiger that is thrown in there makes it a bit more interesting, but doesn't add all that much to the story. However, the story wasn't exactly boring, and the art was doable. All in all, a decent manga that has a been there done that feel, but pulled off well enough to not be a waste of time.
Basara (manga) Excellent Epic manga... 27 volumes is definitely one of the longer ones out there. The animations style is definitely not my cup of tea... too wispy and messy for me, but once you really get into the story, it quickly gets much better. The characters are all really likable, memorable, and easy to side with. The story, although long, goes fast with plenty of fight scenes and arcs. And the art style slowly changes into something much more readble at the end (could be quality of scanlation). Highly recommended.
Basilisk (manga) Very good Bloody depressing manga about 2 clans of ninjas slaughtering each other. This is reminiscent of Ninja Scroll, with plenty of characters utilizing ridiculous "ninja" powers... The fight scenes were good, and the characters memorable... but too depressing for my taste...
Battle Angel Alita (manga) Very good This is a great post-apocalyptic manga with plenty of great fights, blood and gore, and a very intriguing, albeit really random universe. Things really didn't turn out the way I expected them too, which means this is definetly not the run of the mill manga. Highly recommended if you like action with plenty of blood and guts in a wasteland.
Battle Royale (manga) Very good This manga is effed up. This can bring a ton of emotions into play (seriously, killing a bunch of kids?) not to mention some of the characters that you grow to love will be dismembered, blown apart, or otherwise mutilated... But at the end, this is still a manga worth reading for the psychological aspect of human relations and clean art.
Believers (manga) Good This manga was interesting until the end, when everything got way too confusing and abstract for me. The art was alright, not my particular cup of tea, but the story was interesting. It was a decent read for the two volumes, but it leaves you feeling as if things are lacking.
Benkei in New York (manga)
Biomega (manga) Excellent
Black Cat (manga by K. Yabuki) Very good Great manga with plenty of action scenes, interesting characters, and an intriguing storyline. Definitely better than the anime, and a worthy read for all fans.
Blade of the Immortal (manga) Very good
Blame! (manga) Very good
Blank Canvas: My So-Called Artist’s Journey (manga) Masterpiece
Blood+ (manga) Very good
Blue Heaven (manga) Decent
Bokkō (manga) Excellent Great fighting, interesting strategy, and a bad ass main character. This manga was a great read for all the action it had, not much for the story.
Bokurano: Ours (manga) Excellent
Bonnouji (manga) Very good
Boys on the Run (manga) Good
Boys Over Flowers (manga) Good
Buso Renkin (manga) Good
Buzzer Beater (manga) Good Had potential, but didn't do much with it. Story was definitely interesting, but art and character depth were fairly lacking. There are better ones out there.
Bye bye, papa (manga) So-so Nothing to see here. Small manga about a young kid learning about romance.
Cage of Eden (manga) Very good
Caravan Kidd (manga) Good Interesting manga, but the apocalyptic story has the been there done that feel. The characters are what drives this manga forward, supported by decent art. Recommended if you're bored enough.
Cardcaptor Sakura (manga) Very good Better than the anime in my opinion (and much shorter). I would say it also emphasizes the relation between Sakura and Li Shaoran better than the anime (which is what really made the anime worth watching). It may seem a bit kiddish, but still recommended if you like action with quite a bit of magic thrown in.
Ceres: Celestial Legend (manga) Very good If you liked Fushigi Yuugi, you'll love this manga... very similar to Fushigi Yuugi, although it might be more depressing at times also... Lots of memorable characters, and an interesting storyline... The art gets pretty messy at times, but the strong points are good enough that as a whole there is not much to complain about.
Cherry Syndrome (manga) Very good
Chibi Vampire (manga by Y. Kagesaki) Decent
Chikyū Kanrinin (manga) Good
Children of the Sea (manga) Good
Chinatsu no Uta (manga) Decent
Chobits (manga) Excellent This is also better than the anime, more due to how the ending makes more sense here and the tie in's with the other works done by Clamp. Human/Android interactions aren't my favorite, but this one tops all of them so it's fairly tolerable. Not to mention Clamp, and the main female character is so cute, makes this definetly a good read.
Chocolat (manga by Kubonouchi) Excellent
Chocotto Sister (manga) Good
Chrono Crusade (manga) Excellent This manga was much better than the anime in my opinion. Bigger and better fights, more powers being used, and the ending seemed to be much better (although it will still bring tears to your eyes). It could get messy at times figuring out whats going on, but altogether a good read.
Clamp School Detectives (manga) Decent
Coelacanth (manga) Decent
(The) Comic Artist and His Assistants (manga) Very good
Confession (manga by K Kawaguchi) Good Wasn't very meorable of a manga... short and to the point I guess
Countrouble (manga) Very good
Cowboy Bebop (manga) Mediocre manga based off one of the best animes ever... Fairly hard to follow along, art style is also a bit off from the anime and doesn't seem to be top quality. Other than that, it contains the classic characters of Cowboy Bebop, and is fairly faithful to the story and characters. Not a bad read, but it doesn't do the anime justice.
Cowboy Bebop Shooting Star (manga) Not really good This is even worse than the other manga, since they pretty much reinterpreted the characters. I can't stand the new animation for each of the people, not to mention they also messed with the story. You can change the art, but don't change the essence of the anime. Couldn't stand this, avoid if you like the anime at all... or try to read it if you like the anime... shrug...
Crest of the Stars (manga) Very good Manga based off one of my favorite anime series... does a decent job of retelling the story, but a bit more confusing and not as in depth as the anime. Only gets a decent rating since it stays faithful to the original story, which is already hella awesome.
Cromartie High School (manga) Good
Cross Game (manga) Masterpiece
Crows (manga) Excellent
Crying Freeman (manga) Good
D.N.Angel (manga) Good
Dance in the Vampire Bund (manga) Very good
Dance in the Vampire Bund II: Scarlet Order (manga) Good
Dance in the Vampire Bund: The Memories of Sledgehammer (manga) Very good
DAWN ~Tsumetai Te (manga) Very good
DearS (manga) Very good Your standard love comedy... not as many girls in here, more similar to a Chobits type anime/manga. Still pretty funny most of the time, and the characters were all decent, but nothing especially surprising or interesting. Decent watch if you like the genre.
Death Note (manga) Excellent
Dengeki Daisy (manga) Very good
(The) Devil Does Exist (manga) Good High school romance drama... nothing really special going on here. Read if you're a big fan...
Diamond Head (manga) Very good Decent shoujo manga that is a step beyond just everyday love affairs. The trial cases were decently well done, and were interesting enough to make this manga worthwhile
A Distant Neighborhood (manga) Very good A very interesting manga that I particularly like due to the interesting situation the protagonist is in. A recommended read for people looking for a manga that covers a topic I know some of us have thought about fairly often.
DNA² (manga) Good This manga was one of the first I read, so the art is pretty ancient. The premise is fairly ridiculous (super-playboy?) but the execution went decently. I felt bad for the time-traveler chick, but it was an interesting read from start to finish.
Dogs: Prelude (manga) Decent
Dominion (manga) Good This manga is not as good as his other works, and just as confusing/hectic. Not much really gets explained, thing go boom everywhere, and the world is one screwed up place. Recommended if you're a fan of his work.
Domu (manga) Good Interesting little manga, not much to it, but there are some times when the fights really draw you in. Akira is still the gold standard.
Dororo (manga) Good
Doubt! (manga by Amano) Very good
Dr. Slump (manga) Excellent
Dragon Ball (manga) Excellent The classic Dragon Ball Z. If you want to talk about overblown powers and ridiculous action scenes, then this is the end all be all for you. By the end of it, every character has the ability to destroy worlds by blinking at them. But the story is fun, fights are entertaining, and the fact that they all learn new things makes this manga an easy and enjoyable read.
(The) Drifting Classroom (manga) Very good
Dusk maiden of Amnesia (manga) Excellent
Eat-Man (manga) Very good
Eden - It's an Endless World! (manga, Hiroki Endo) Excellent
Edge of Tomorrow (novel)
Eiichiro Oda Before One Piece (manga) Very good
Elemental Gelade (manga) Good
Elfen Lied (manga) Very good It started out with everything I expected... lots of blood, gore, and lucy goodness, but towards the end, things seemed to be less and less coherent. This is one of the few series that I think the anime was better (just because even though the ending was incomplete, it was happier) not to mention the anime made more sense. The manga had a bit too much going on. Regardless though, the story here is one of a kind, and will make even the most hardened men cringe. I highly reccomend this manga if you like blood, gore, and plenty of action and darkness.
Emanon (manga) Decent
Emerging (manga) Decent
Emma (manga) Excellent
Erased (manga) Excellent
ES (manga) Very good Decent manga with some fairly interesting twists and turns. The art is done fairly well, and the story in intriguing. Also brings out some interesting moraily issue... not a bad read.
Eyeshield 21 (manga) Very good
Fist of the Blue Sky (manga) Excellent
Fist of the North Star (manga) Excellent
Flame of Recca (manga) Masterpiece This manga is definetly one of my favorites. The powers that every person have are varied and top-notch, not to mention all the characters are entertaining and lovable (even some of the villans, especially Joker). It can be pretty tragic at times, but with great action scenes, and a great storyline, this is a manga you don't want to miss.
FLCL (manga) Decent Ugh, more FLCL. This made a bit more sense than the anime, but it's still made for fans of the series.
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma (manga) Very good
Freesia (manga by J.Matsumoto) Very good This is one f-ed up manga. Everything from the story to the artwork made this manga both interesting and hard to comprehend. By the end, I'm still not sure what exactly happened, and even though I liked the main character, wasn't too big on all the additional people. Additionally, some important things were never explained, which really annoys me... read it if you have nothing better to do.
From Far Away (manga) Very good
Fruits Basket (manga) Good
Fujoshi Rumi: Mousou Shoujo Otaku Kei (manga) Good
Fukashigi Philia (manga) Good
Full Moon O Sagashite (manga) Excellent Even though this manga might have seemed designed for younger audiences, I thoroughly enjoyed this, even more so than the anime. I couldn't help but like Takuto, and enjoy the other relationship dynamics, especially the sacrifices each character had to make...
Fullmetal Alchemist (manga) Masterpiece
Fushigi Yûgi (manga) Good
Fushigi Yûgi: Genbu Kaiden (manga) Excellent
Future Diary (manga) Excellent
G Senjou Heaven's Door (manga) Good
Gamaran (manga) Very good
Gantz (manga) Excellent
Genshiken (manga) Excellent
Ghost Hunt (manga) Very good
Ghost in the Shell (manga) Excellent The manga that started it all (The major is hot in here). It's fairly different from the anime at times, and has a lot of resemblence to Appleseed (not just the art, but the whole feeling itself). But the greatest feat of GITS is the ability for it to immerse you in the universe that Masamune has created, that will leave you wanting to come back for more.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface (manga) Excellent More of the great GITS we love and like, with an even buffed up and hotter major. Read if you're a fan of the series.
Ghost Talker's Daydream (manga) Good
(The) Gift of the Magi (manga) Excellent
Gokusen (manga) Very good
Golden Boy (manga) Excellent
(The) Good Witch of the West (manga) Excellent
Grenadier (manga) Decent
Grey (manga) Very good This manga was chock full of action... the storyline might not have been coherent, and characters pop up and die off every other page, but the main character is enough to make this a decent enough read.
GS Mikami Gokuraku Daisakusen!! (manga) Good
GTO (manga) Masterpiece OMG, probably the best manga ever (next to Berserk...) This is probably the funniest manga ever created, and the premise is so ridiculous that it works wonders. The art is different, but enjoyable. But the problems that rise up and the way Onizuka entertaining way Onizuka deals with them makes this manga a timeless classic. Not to mention Urumi is probably one of the hottest girls in all of mangadom. READ IT NOW!
Gunslinger Girl (manga) Very good
Gunsmith Cats (manga) Very good
Gunsmith Cats Burst (manga) Very good
H2 (manga) Masterpiece Epic Adachi manga, with the feelings between the main characters in constant flux. I might not have been happy with the end result girl-wise, but the ride was more than worth it. Classis Adachi drawing, storytelling, and humour, this one is one of his masterpieces.
Hallucination from the Womb (manga) Decent
Hana-Kimi (manga) Good Blah... girl masquerading as guy to be close to some guy... it's kind of entertaining, but drags at times. Not to mention it takes forever to get them together, so frustration abounds. But the ending was great and finished up this manga on a positive note, so it's worth reading if you're into this stuff.
Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto (manga) Very good
Heads (manga) Good
Hellsing (manga) Masterpiece Bad ass vampire. Check. Bad ass villans. Check. Ridiculous firepower. Check. Enough blood to drown a city. Double Check. This manga is non-stop actions and laughs from front to finish. The art might not be the cleanest, but the story is wicked sick. However, girlycard kind of detracts from the series. But it's still a mandatory read.
Here is Greenwood (manga) Very good When I first started reading, I was deathly afraid it would turn into a Yaoi. Luckily, it far exceeded my expectations. Except for the fact there was a guy who looks just like a girl, the manga was funny, nicely drawn, and keeps you interested in the main character. The stories aren't anything exciting, but they're told with enough comedic support and taste to make it a great read.
Hiatari Ryoukou! (manga) Excellent One of Adachi's shorter works, so there is not as much character development as in the others, but still your classic Adachi, which I love.
Hikaru no Go (manga) Excellent Ahhh... a whole series about go. How bad ass could this be? More badass than anything you can ever come up with! The characters here are all immensely entertaining, and the go battles the characters comepte in are strangely exciting. Even if you know nothing about go, you will find the whole anime enjoyable. The drawings might not be the best out there, but the story is innovative and top-notch.
Holyland (manga) Excellent
Homunculus (manga) Decent
Honey and Clover (manga) Excellent
Hoshin Engi (manga) Masterpiece This manga has it all. Love, Hate, War, and Peace. Fantastic drawings coupled with incredible fight scenes define this anime, with an epic story that forces you to continue reading. A plethora of characters that you will love then hate, and hate then love, everyone of them unique in their own way. Only by reading this manga would you be able to understand exactly how it combines an incredible story with masterful execution into a manga that will go down through the ages.
Hot Milk (manga) Very good Mediocre art, mediocre story, but funny characters. Read for a quick cheap laugh.
Hotel Harbour View (manga) Decent Manga with some potential, definitely not mainstream. Not sure how much I liked it, but it was not that bad.
I Won't Let You Be a Star! (manga) Decent
I''s (manga) Excellent This manga wasn't as cute as Ichigo 100%, but it was less frustrating since there wasn't that many conflicting love interests. Not to mention it ended on a much better note than Ichigo 100%, even if the girl wasn't as hot. The story is fairly pretty, and the interactions can really suck you in. Read if you're a fan of this stuff.
ib - instant bullet (manga) Very good
Icaro (manga) So-so
Ice Blade (manga) Excellent This is a gritty cop manga, and it's done fairly well. Decent artwork, intriguing story, and a badass cop, all you really need for this genre. Recommended for all.
Ichi the Killer (manga) Very good OMG, this manga is really effed up. Not only do we have a psychopathic killer tearing apart mafia gangs, but every person has so many mental issues this whole manga makes you want to see a shrink. But it's entertaining from beginning to finish, and the fights, although bloody, are pretty bad-ass at times.
Immortal Rain (manga) Very good
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha (manga) Excellent
Initial D (manga) Masterpiece
Inu Neko Jump! (manga) Very good Decent manga... doesn't really have a satisfactory ending, but its not a bad read.
Inugami (manga) Good
Inuyasha (manga) Excellent
Island (manhwa) Decent Decent manhwa with plenty of spooky and supernatural themes, however, the execution and ending were both lacking somewhat.
Itsumo Misora (manga) Very good
Jackals (manga) Good
Jinbe (manga) Good
Jormungand (manga) Very good
Juline (manga) So-so Ugh... the art really annoyed me in this manga, making both the story and fight scenes really hard to follow. Other than that, the characters were mediocre, with little personality and depth. The plot was confusing, which was further compounded by the terrible art style. Not the worst anime, but there are by far much better ones.
K no Souretsu (manga) Decent
Kabu no Isaki (manga) Excellent
Kaede Typhoon (manga) Good
Kagome-Kagome (manga by Toshiki Yui) Very good Hilarious manga, even though there are some parts that could be considered creepy, but on the whole, very light-hearted. The 2 main female characters are very likable, as is the male protagonist. Art may not seem up to par for some people, but I liked it enough. Worth reading.
Kamen Teacher (manga) Good
KaNa (manga) Decent
Kannazuki no Miko: Destiny of Shrine Maiden (manga) Good
Kare Kano (manga) Excellent I finally finished this manga after 6 years, and I have to say, it ended fairly well. Not as good as I remembered it to be, and it dragged for a while in the middle, but the ending made up for it, and everyone got what was coming to them. Art is pretty, and the personal interactions flowed well. Read if you're a fan of the genre.
Katsu! (manga) Masterpiece Mitsuru Adachi! Even though I felt that the ending was a little rushed comparatively, it is the classic Adachi that I love to read over and over again. Art is fairly unique, not the sharp lines you see on modern mangas, but the story is top notch (yes, same as all of the other stories, but they're still all top notch). Only Adachi can combine comedy and drama together so well that you can't hope but laugh and cry at the same time.
Kazan (manga) Very good
Keep on Vibrating (manga) Not really good No real premise to this manga, just relationships and how screwed up they are at times.
Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho (manga) Good
Kiddy Grade Reverse (manga) Decent Short manga continuing the Kiddy Grade universe. Set during the series, more Eclair and Lumiere goodness (lots of fan shots too). Decent action, decent art, well-rounded manga for fans of the series.
Kilico (manga) Decent The art was very interesting for the most part (everyone was superbuff/superskinny and the story was pretty screwed up also (love/hate relationships to the next level). There's a lot of action in this, and plenty of blood and death if that's your game. It was a fairly easy read, but nothing too noteworthy.
Kimagure Orange Road (manga) Excellent The art is old, but the story still holds up through the ages. It's the standard love triangle with a twist... and it ends up with plenty of laughs and plenty of tears. Not the best there ever is, but far from the worst. Recommended.
Kimishika Iranai (manga) Very good I really don't remember... need to read this again.
King of Thorn (manga) Good
Kirara (manga) Very good This manga is fairly hilarious at times, even though it's obviously geared towards a mature audience (as depicted by the naked bodies floating around). The art isin't too special, but it's easy to follow around (looks just like Kagome Kagome). Not the best manga out there, but will keep you interested in other works by this mangaka.
Kiss in the Blue (manga) So-so Supposed to be a standard high school romance drama with extra drama thrown in. It's okay, but the female main characters gets pretty annoying at times (which is no real surprise in most of these dramas) and the main guy has to rescue her over and over again. Art is okay, nothing spectacular, and not much humour in this one. Pass if you don't like anything too serious without being really special.
Kiss wa Naisho ni (manga) Decent Standard parents remarry and siblings fall in love. Humour, sadness, drama, etc... Mediocre art, mediocre story, but not really a horrible read either. Read it if you have time to waste.
Knights of Sidonia (manga) Excellent
Kobato. (manga) Very good
Kodocha - Sana's Stage (manga) Very good I think the manga was better than the anime, even though the anime expanded on some of the stories in the manga fairly well. The story in the manga focuses more on the important characters (missing a whole arc that the anime had) while still keeping the humour that makes Kodocha Kodocha. The characters are all well-developed, and Hayama is probably one of my most liked protagonists.
Koikaze (manga) Excellent I liked this manga a lot (maybe more than I should), but after watching the anime and reading the manga, I believe if 2 people love each other, they should just go for it. The art is fairly artistic, almost whimsical, but the feelings that everyone has are real. Plenty of humour and plenty of sadness. Read if you're interested, otherwise you might want to stay away.
Koisuru Melody Musume (manga) Good So yeah, the description bascially explains everything. All the stories are fairly short, but most of them are pretty funny, and even though they would drag if they went on for more than 1 chapter, because they are so short it's worth reading.
Kokou no Hito (manga) Excellent
Kokumin Quiz (manga) Good
Kure-nai (manga by Y. Yamamoto)
Kurogane (manga by Toume) Very good The manga was fairly well done... art style isn't as clean cut as most other mangas, but it fit well with the mood. The story was decently interesting, nothing to make it stand out, but enough to makeyou keepon reading. Fight scenes were decent, confusing at times, but that combined with the personalities of the characters made this anime a decent read.
Kurohime (manga) Very good
Kurosawa the Master of Masturbation (manga) Excellent
Kurozuka (manga) Good Well... the thing that really annyoed me was the story was never fully explained, and even in the end, things didn't seem to fall into place. Maybe if i read it again a second time I'd have a better grasp of what happened, but it got so annoying keeping track of what was all going on that I gave up on that idea. However, the fight scenes, though pretty hard to follow, were brutal, full of blood, and plenty of goodness that make fight scenes nice. Not to mention gratuitous nudity that works perfectly well with the story. Not a bad read if you don't care enough about the plot...
Kyo no Gononi (manga) This manga is off the HOOK! Even though it's about fifth graders with pretty mature attitudes (or perverted...) it comes off as both funny and tasteful (which is kind of hard to do). The Art is good, and the characters are real lovable. A must watch for anybody wanting to get a comedy fix.
Last Quarter (manga) Very good The movie was hard to understand, but the manga progresses the storyline in a much better fashion. It's a good story with mystery and romance... enough to leave you fulfilled after watching it.
Lilim Kiss (manga) Good Standard cute little manga about boy meets girl... nice artwork, mediocre story...
Line (manga) Good
Living Game (manga) Very good The star point of this manga was the fact that the two main characters really paired well with each other, and that the whole story is full of laughs and smiles. Not a bad read by far...
Lone Wolf and Cub (manga, Kazuo Koike) Masterpiece Truly an epic, a manga that gives insight into the depths of human nature and medieval japanese culture. The main character has everything going for him: godlike skills, a tragic past, and a kid to boot. It' basically Kenshin with a kid, although much more dark. Additionally, the things he does, which doesn't always seem morally right, are always whats demanded of people back then. Art style is nitty gritty, but fits right in with the atmosphere of the manga. I couldn't put this down from beginning to end, so engrossing was the story.
Love Letter (manga by Ai Yazawa) Decent Standard high school love story (plenty of these). Yeah, there's a twist since it's a long distance relationship with a guy from Taiwan (well... kind of a twist, not really). Either way, it contains some comedy, but mostly drama (there is some heavy annoying drama, but it's fairly short). It was short, which made up for the lackluster story. Art was standard modern manga art, nothing worth noting.
Love*Com (manga) Excellent
Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer (manga) Very good
LUNO (manga) Good
Maburaho (manga) Good One of the few mangas out there where the storyline wasn't as good as the anime, at least in my opinion. The same jokes, characters, and art style were there, but it just didn't have the depth or feeling the anime conveyed. I'd read if you really like buxom girls or if you're a fan of the anime. Otherwise this is a pass...
Magic Knight Rayearth (manga) Very good Similar yet different from the anime... I daresay I might have liked the anime better, since it was easier to follow and more in-depth at times. The fight scenes got fairly confusing in the manga, but everything else is your standard clamp. Not the best work they have done, but that by itself is better than most.
Magic Knight Rayearth II (manga) Very good Continuation of Rayearth, and finishes up the story. Again, it's different from the anime, but this one might be a bit better? Wasn't a big fan of how the anime turned out in the end. Again, a decent read if you have the time.
Magico (manga) Very good
Mahoraba (manga) Excellent A standard love comedy manga that combines the perfect amount of character development, humour, and drama to come off as a great read for fans of the genre. The characters are all colorful and add to the manga instead of distracting. The art style, although fairly mainstream, is cute and pretty, bringing the emotions of each individual character really well.
Mahoromatic (manga) Very good
Mai the Psychic Girl (manga) Good
Majin -Devil- (manga) Very good
Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro (manga) Excellent
Mantis Woman (manga) Good
MAOYU - Archenemy and Hero (manga) Very good
Melty Blood (manga) Excellent
Mermaid Saga (manga) Very good
Mermaid's Scar (manga) Very good
Metro Survive (manga) Good
Midori's Days (manga) Good Standard anime about a girl trying to get with a guy, but even though it may be over the top cute, it is well worth the read.
Mimi o Sumaseba (manga) Good
Mint na Bokura (manga) Excellent Hilarious manga, especially since the main characters are interesting enough to make a seemingly overdone genre refreshing. The jokes are good, and the interpersonal dynamics are also a step above the norm. Worth reading.
Mirai Nikki Paradox (manga) Decent
Mirai Nikki Redial (manga) Good
Miyuki (manga) Excellent Adachi... even though sports don't really play a part in this manga, there is still plenty of the cute but touching romance that Adachi is so great at creating. The art is classic Adachi, and the characters are all more or less lovable...
Mob Psycho 100 (manga) Excellent
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Episode Zero (manga) Good

Nasu (manga) Decent
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (manga) Masterpiece I can see why this manga is rated so highly, it is an epic story of loss, love, and redemption. The story is beautiful in its cruelty, full of agonizing plot twists and turns. You can't help but support the main characters and even the worst enemies in there end up becoming someone to just pity. The world is amazing, something most normal people couldn't even begin to imagine. Nausicaa is a story that all others have to be measured against.
Needless (manga) Very good
Neighborhood Story (manga) Very good Cute little story with plenty of laughs.. worth reading if you're into light hearted comedy with plenty of romance.
Niji-iro Tōgarashi (manga) Excellent Adachi with a twist, quite a bit more fighting and death, but the same subtle (or not) comedy and hilarious main characters. I'm a fan of Adachi, so I love everything he does, and I'd recommend it to everyone.
Nijigahara Holograph (manga) Good
Nodame Cantabile (manga) Excellent
NOiSE (manga, Tsutomu Nihei) Very good
Not Simple (manga) Decent
Nozoki Ana (manga) Very good
O-Parts Hunter (manga) Good This manga had some interesting potential, but the executrion really tripped this story up. Plot holes weren't abundent, but many things weren't explained well at all. Additionally, the art wasn't too spectacular, and things got fairly messy quite often. Admittedly, the quality of the scans weren't the greatest either, but some things couldn't be forgiven just because of bad translation. However, fight scenes were decent, and the characters are likable and interesting for the most part. A decent read, but nothing to go out of the way for.
Ode to Kirihito (manga) Very good
Old Boy (manga) Very good
One Missed Call (manga) Decent Only seen the second movie, but the manga seems to correspond faithfully to what I've seen. The animation is fairly nice... a little too smooth to be scary, but there are times where you'll get goosebumps. It would have been better if the whole thing wasn't so darn confusing. I'd recommend reading it if you like the movies. Otherwise nothing much to see here.
One-Pound Gospel (manga) Very good
Orenji Yane no Chiisana Ie (manga) Masterpiece
Otogi Matsuri (manga) Good
Otogibanashi o Anata ni (manga) Decent Pretty drawings, but story is kind of weak, not to mention I wasn't a big fan of the main characters.
Ouran High School Host Club (manga) Very good
Outlanders (manga) Very good This was a great story with plenty of action and drama, especially closer to the end. What started out as a pseudo-comedy quickly turned out into a depressing drama, but the ending was able to redeem it.
Pailong (manga) Good This is short but interesting. Story is mediocre, artwork is alright, but it still manages to be entertaining, with decent fight scenes and a cute supporting character. Nobody is really that well-developed, but it doesn't really play into things...
Parallel (manga) Very good Standard love anime, boy likes girl, girl doesn't really like boy, boy and girl are forced together. However, this whole manga is funny most of the time, and far less "too-serious" drama taking away from the parts that make this manga great. A must-read for romantic comedies.
Path of the Assassin (manga) Very good
Pet Shop of Horrors (manga) Good This manga was interesting enough by detailing the darkest sides of human behavior. Every substory had it's moments, and the main characters are entertaining enough to keep this manga going.
Phantom Thief Jeanne (manga) Very good More of the same great manga writing as Full moon, although I'm not as big a fan of the story this time around...
Planetes (manga) Excellent This manga goes quite a bit more in-depth than the anime does at some points, but both of them are excellent. I think the romance in the manga was better than the anime, and the main female character was less emotionally disturbed, but regardless, this is a must read.
Pluto (manga) Excellent
PositioN (manga) Good
Pretty Face (manga) Very good
Project ARMS (manga) Very good
Psychic Academy (manga) Good This manga was really good overall, although I wasn't a big fan of the ending... Nice fight scenes and decently memorable characters...
Psychic Power Nanaki (manga) Decent
Q and A (manga) Very good
Ran And The Gray World (manga) Excellent
Ranma ½ (manga) Excellent One of Takahashi's masterpieces, Ranma 1/2 is full of laughter and interesting scenes. Even though it may seem like the manga goes on forever, by the time you reach the end, you felt like you just started.
Ratman (manga) Very good
Rave Master (manga) Good
(The) Record of a Fallen Vampire (manga) Masterpiece
RG Veda (manga) Very good OOH boy... CLAMP... and older style CLAMP which involves lots and lots of killing (like X, but better) because everybody has super-buffed up powers. The art is sharp, but could get real messy at times (standard old-school CLAMP), but the storyline and the universe it takes place in is unique (standard CLAMP again). A must read for action fans or CLAMP fans.
Riki-Oh (manga) Good
RiN (manga) Excellent
(The) Ring (manga) Decent Based off the novel/movie? It follows the story pretty accurately, and might explain things a bit better. The artwork was mediocre, which didn't make it all that scary (but the whole premise is still pretty scary...) It is different than the American Ring (explains things better). Only recommended if you really liked the movies.
(The) Ring 2 (manga) So-so Same as the my comment for the Ring. Nothing much here, the drawings are even different between books.
River's Edge (manga) Very good
Rookies (manga) Excellent
Rose Hip Rose (manga) Very good
Rough (manga) Masterpiece Adachi... Through and Through, and that's what makes this an excellent manga. Beautiful storyline, plenty of drama, and great understated (and overstated) humour that we can all relate to. A must read for everyone.
Rumic Theater (manga) Very good
Rurouni Kenshin (manga) Masterpiece I'm suprised that this wasn't rated higher than I thought it would... it did spawn the best anime of all time. Epic storyline, with possible the most favorite and beloved anime character of all time.
Saikano (manga) Excellent If you don't sit back and reflect on the character dynamics in this manga, then you have a black hole where your soul should be. The storytelling is chillingly magnificent, especially since you can sense the despair at every plot twist. Even though the secondary characters are only their to add color to the dynamic between Chise and Shuji, every little saying and action is done masterfully... A must read for all...
Samurai Deeper Kyo (manga) Excellent
Samurai Executioner (manga) Very good Great manga, always liked his work. He always displays human life in a multiple if ways, polarizing our opinions. Recommended for samurai/historical fans.
Sanctuary (manga by R. Ikegami) Excellent
Sand Chronicles (manga) Excellent
Sankarea: Undying Love (manga) Very good
School Rumble (manga) Excellent Well... this was easily a masterpiece until the ending... but the ending is exactly the same as in the anime... so if you were disappointed, don't look here for any salvation. The characters are memorable, the comedy refreshing, and emotions pretty powerful at times. Not to mention it has one of the best anime heroines of all time (I'm looking at you Yakumo)... but still the ending... Big Sigh...
Seizon -LifE- (manga) Very good
Sexy Voice and Robo (manga) Good I didn't like this as much as the live action, but story-wise it might have been better. While the live action focused more on the human aspect, the manga had more mystery, suspense, and action. These 2 share very few similarities, but overall both of them are very worth seeing.
Shaman King (manga) Very good

Shiki (manga) Excellent
Shina Dark - Kuroki Tsuki no Ō to Sōheki no Tsuki no Himegimi (manga) Good

Shuna's Journey (manga) Very good
Sickness Unto Death (manga) Good
Silver Spoon (manga) Excellent
Skyhigh (manga) Good
Skyhigh Karma (manga) Good
Skyhigh: Shinshō (manga)
Slam Dunk (manga) Very good This could have been a really good manga, but it seems that the mangaka lost track near the end. He was building towards something spectacular, but the ending kind of leaves you empty, as if he was in a rush to finish it. However, the journey was interesting, and there were plenty of feel good moments. Definitely recommended.
Smuggler (manga) Decent
Sola (manga) Decent
Solanin (manga) Decent
Someday's Dreamers (manga) Excellent Real cute manga about a girl learning about the world. I didn't like this so much for the main female protagonist, but for her teacher (who, for all intents and purposes, is a badass). Couple this with beautiful artwork and a great story, and this manga is a winner.
Someday's Dreamers: Spellbound (manga) Decent
Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru (manga) Excellent
Spiral (manga) Not really good I don't even know wtf is going in this manga. Everything just seems weird and out there... read it if you're truly bored and want to be even more confused by the ring mythology? Shrug.
Spiral Alive (manga) Good
Spirit Circle (manga) Excellent
Spirit of Wonder (manga) Decent Short manga with plenty of fanservice, and a hysterical storyline (although fairly disjointed at times) makes this a quick but easy read. Recommended for a quick manga fix.
Steel Ball Run (manga) Very good
Strain (manga) Very good
Strawberry 100% (manga) Excellent So this manga managed to piss me off, calm me down in accepting the girl he choose, then pissed me off even more. I'm still ambivalent to the girl he choose... any of the other ones would have made me happier. Anyways, the art is pretty (girls are hot), storyline has a been-there done that feel, but it's still worth reading since it comes together real well.
Sugar Dark Umerareta Yami to Shōjo (manga) Good
Sumomomo, Momomo - The Strongest Bride on Earth (manga) Good
Sun-Ken Rock (manga) Excellent
SunFlower Kindergarten Story AIKO de SHO! (manga) Excellent
Superior (manga) Decent
Superior Cross (manga) Decent
Suzuka (manga) Excellent Well... This was another "epic" manga, with 17 volumes. The main character never really impressed me, but the story and supporting characters were good enough the main character didn't matter too much. It progresses sort of like Kare Kano, a lot more comedy up front, with quite a bit of seriousness at the end. I could feel the characters emotions near there at the end, which is what really made this manga stand out from others.
Tatakae! Ryōzanpaku Shijō Saikyō no Deshi (manga) Excellent
Tekkonkinkreet (manga) Very good
Tende Freeze! (manga) Good Pure comedy straight up, but it was only mediocre. The story was kind of interesting. But the lack of any real urgency or action also detracted from it. There are better stories out there.

Ultra Red (manga, Nakaba Suzuki) Good
Urusei Yatsura (manga) Very good Another epic manga by Takahashi, so you know what to expect. Long drawn out and involved storyline with plenty of humorous moments. I wouldn't say this is her best work, and the premise is fairly ridiculous, but it is still entertaining and provides plenty of enjoyment.
Uzumaki (manga) Very good
Vampire Game (manga) Decent
Video Girl Ai (manga) Good This was a cute manga, with plenty of laughs and tears. The main character is your standard clueless guy who can always looks a gift horse in the mouth... Recommended for most people who like cute romance mangas.
Violinist of Hameln (manga) Very good
(The) Voices of a Distant Star (manga) Very good Another great anime series, this manga adds more depth to the already limited (but awesome) story. One of my favorite storytellers, he weaves a fantastic tale of love and distance, one that will haunt you forever. Another must read.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (manga) Excellent Ahhh, what can we say about this manga. Nothing really goes on, but thats not the point. The point is feeling the characters, the world they live in, and the experiences that happen. Lively artwork, great scenes, and a heartwarming story makes this manga shine.
Your Lie in April (manga) Masterpiece
YuYu Hakusho (manga) Very good
