Received this by e-mail today, just felt like sharing. Gives you a window into the mind of some of the anti-nerds who hate anime. Not surprisingly, this guy is a huge nerd himself, actually discussing on his web-journal my 2 sentence e-mail that sprarked this reply. I e-mailed him because of his Amazon.com listmania that said, "DBZ is the reason why I hate all anime." This was his e-mail:
Starting out a message with "LOL"...this is going to go well already. Cyborg 009 is nothing but another pitiful attempt at anime that no one paid attention to and for good reason. Sealab 2021...you're probably a middle schooler if you like that s***. And yes, I do hate all anime, DBZ being the worst offender. Do I really have to give reasons as to why it's stupid? Just because you were so nice enough to take time out of your own day and give it to me, I think I will. -P**** battles (j-syxx's note, edited reference to male anatomy). Good guy has big p****. Bad guy has bigger p****. Good guy gets bigger penis and beats bad guy. Really, this happens a lot, especially in Dragonball Z, Inu Yasha and most Gundams. Power levels, whether they be superpowers or power of someone's equipment, is really just a metaphor for how big the characters' penises are. Dragonball Z is an obvious example. Inu Yasha is another one. At first the show was about Inu Yasha overcoming unusual odds with innovative tactics and the help of Kagome, but later the series has him winning battles by gaining new powers. That's not good writing, that's a cop-out. Gundam is another offender, as the show is usually about the bad guy and good guy arguing over who has the better mobile suit. -The average show is not greatly enhanced by numerous shots of the female lead's panties or t*** (note, reference to female anatomy). -Random lapses into chibism. This almost killed Kenshin for me. -When they don't count when the person is down on a tournament. Yu Yu Hakusho mastered this. -When they repeat the every single plot point 900 times per episode. -That in Anime World, girls age 12 - 15 wear a D-cup. -Hell, the fact that most characters in anime either really young or really old. How about we have somebody who has been out of puberty for a few years be the hero for once? -The fact that something as physically and psychologically damaging as rape is treated so lightly. -The fact that anime has a fan base that will regard anything anime as being perfect and infinitely superior to every other form of media. -He's dead! Oh wait, nevermind. NOW he's dead! Oh wait, nevermind. Biggest offender here is DBZ. -The squealers. It's like 90% of all girls in anime have 8-year-olds' voices. -The typical fanboys/fangirls: "WAAAIIIII!!! Watarshi wa kaWAYEE DESUU!!!! Neko neko sugoi oishii watashi wa ushi!!!" B****, if you don't speak Japanese, don't [expletive] try to speak Japanese. -10 episode fights. -250 pound men who cosplay 14 year old catgirls. Scrawny, acne ridden 33 year olds who cosplay 19 year old flamboyant sex icons and WHINE AND WHINE AND WHINE about totally stupid s*** like who's prettier Sammy or Ryoko oh my god I can't believe you think Sammy I'm going to totally Moon Tiara Magic you to the next dimension as soon as I stop huddling like a little fetus in the corner of the merchandise hall, clutching at my plushy dolls and cds and t-shirts and my precious precious DVDs oh if only I had thought of that comeback in junior year when Jerry and the rest of the gang drew a penis on my face oh jesus Shinji you're the only one who understands me hi can i get a large order of fries stop making fun of me im not making fun of you im calling the manager call the f******* manager i don't care AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH So thank you for wasting time just to email me and tell me how stupid you are for watching things on Cartoon Network. This guy is a pathetic idiot. "I really hate something, so I'm going to watch it over and over again so I have something to whine about on the internet that a couple of people will read therefore giving my life purpose! Yay!". I would recommend some serious, older animes to him (since he seems to only watch ones aimed at younger people), but just because of the fact that he's a hypocritical jackass, I won't.

Ok, my bad. It was just like I e-mailed him telling him that DBZ wasn't the only anime ever made and that his commentaries on Cyborg 009 and Sealab were very poor, and he replied to me with this 800 word spas attack. |

Sadly too many people feel the need to put others down to boost their own ego, but it's pretty pathetic. The 5 or 10 minutes he took to type that e-mail up are way too much time spent thinking about something one doesn't like. St my point in life, I've figured life is far too short to spend whining over things one doesn't like when one can be doing things one does like.
Although some seem to love to complain more than anything else, but those people are just miserable eople. My mother-in-law is one & she has this permanent frown on her face from all her negativity. |

Well, we're all entitled to our own opinions. But in my criteria, it seems he spends most of his time trying to insult something he only sees and doesn't know about. What people do with their time and how they have fun should be of no importance to others, nor subject to that kind of attitude. And for someone who claims to hate(a little off the wall, I'd say) anime, he made quite a few remaks to openly watching it. I've met people like this, who critisize anything that isn't what 'they' do, and quite frankly, they aren't worth the time. It's better to do what you do, and let them do what they do.

Yea, that is a conundrum in itself. He also made comments dissing Slayers which I removed, because I just couldn't bring myself to post them. It was obvious that he watched all the way through the second season, thats 52 episodes, but absolutely hated it at the same time. Amazing. |

See, thats why everyone on this board should laugh at him and take none of his words seriously. Its obvious that he has watched alot of anime. And if its as horrible to him as he claims, why? Is there really nothing else worth doing in his life that he has to spend hours of his time doing something he hates?

you know, you could quite simply argue on that.
For starters, the fact that the hero gets beaten up and come back stronger. That ain't an anime thing only, that happens in real-live movies and series as well. Almost in every action movie, the hero tries to save the day, receives a setback but strikes again bigtime.
that only happens in dbz
stop watching hentai and then you would see that this is not a general rule
stop watching hentai and you would notice that these things almost never happen in other series

Ay...
You are looking at a guy (me) who just heard all of it. Poland is just this kind of country where the young and the old used to (things really have gotten better in the past few years) combine their forces in just one attemt to put down every anime fan with the sickest theories you have ever heard. I used to be really pissed off on all of this. But.. after a few times when I really tried to be nice and Explain Something to these jack-asses... it occured to me that.. WHY DO I CARE WHAT OTHERS THINK? Hell, If I cared what other people think about me or my hobby I would shave my head bald (like 90% of guys here) and stop wearing black clothes. Whats my point? There are just some people in the world that need to whine. It gives them a reason to live and busts up their pathetic little ego. If they wanted to be convinced they wouldnt make such blatant statements about thigns they dont even understand. There is No Reason for us to worry about him or even try to explain anything because he clearly doesnt care. Anime isnt for him what it is for us. For us - a really good hobby, to him - just another reason to whine, on the same levels like to guys who beat him in school. |

Sorry, but I don't see the point of sending someone that writes on his "Listmania" "DBZ is part of the reason why I hate anime and the losers that throw away their money to it. " an e-mail, even just a two line one, in the first place. Doesn't bother me at all if someone doesn't like anime, even if it's for a "weak" reason, and, if I bothered to reply to someone who describes himself as a "bad-ass" as a custom user title to "educate" him, I'd probably just come across as a fanboy and I would be pretty much asking for a pithy public response.
