I just got the new issue of Shonen Jump today, and although it is supposed to have the same amount of manga, it seems that the magazine has been noticeably reduced in width. Might this be that Shonen Jump is now being published on recycled paper?
Of course, I'm not exactly sure if this is the case, but with lined paper the sheets are much more flimsy. Well...I just need a confirmation, I suppose. But it would be interesting to know what has caused this dramatic reduction in size, which makes it seem like you aren't getting your money's worth. After all, it IS still boasting, "Over 320 pages of manga!" |

I kinda made a thread about this a week ago:
animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12910 Actually, the new issue has 10 more pages of manga than the previous. As long as they keep the same amount of pages in later issues, I really don't mind this new "format." I actually like this width, its a space saver. They just better not skimp on pages in later issues considering they got rid of DBZ. |

Sorry! Of course, I hadn't noticed it. I'll go there then.

Why do you go around smelling the paper anyway? Unless...of course, it just happens to rise up to your olfactory glands.
It seems like I am getting less for my money, but if it really was recycled paper that's great. |

Yeah, that and it rests my weary soul. Everyone thinks I'm weird for that. I just go up to people and tell them to sniff my comic books. Anyway, if you get the chance smell the 2nd edition Nausicaa gn's. They use this really sweet smelling ink. |

Unlike other folks that call themselves American Citizens, I really don't care what you do. Just don't force your freakyness onto me or else i'm gonna clock you. |

I hate smelling ink...the paper smell is ok, but I really hate the smell of the ink. Especially those in the copier machines that smell like some sort of rust.
But is it recycled paper? |

I was under the assumption that all graphic novels were. |

Probably, but the GNs had the same paper as the SJ issues. But now the SJ issues have a different paper. SO what is this mysterious paper?

The crushed bones of the idiots that thought Dragonball GT was a good idea to import. |

Actually, no. The GN's always had better quality paper than the magazine. They should too. |

You can't make paper from bones...there's no way. It'll just end up pasty.
But, it did seem like SJ GNs were printed on the same paper...well, I suppose the GNs had a thicker sheet, then. |
