Bandai Entertainment announced today it will close its ecommercewebsite, THE STORE (http://store.bandai-ent.com/), on December 29, 2011.

Starting today, store items will be sold at a large discount–up to 50% off on select items while in-store supplies last. The sale will end the same date as the store closing.

Customers who have been accumulating points via store purchases must use them prior to the closing date. Orders will not be accepted after 5PM (Pacific Standard Time) December 29,
2011.

Bandai Entertainment reminds internet customers that the company’s DVDs, Blu-rays and other products will continue to be available at other fine online retailers.

Just a few notables:

Just took advantage of the Kurokami DVD bundle. I went with DVD because, unlike the BDs, they are hybrid.

Of course this has to happen when I have no money to spare. It'd be nice to get the other 3 volumes of Flag. Or to take advantage of that Durarara bundle, especially since Aniplex stuff so rarely goes on sale anywhere.

A fire Sale? Oh not good. Sad

This is sad to see since it's probably another sign of Bandai Ent having trouble, which I sort of guessed already by their infrequent acquisitions and title solicitations. If I do pick anything up it'll probably be episodes 3 and 4 of Gundam UC.

Great, the only thing I wanted on their entire site (Gundam UC) isn't on sale. Neutral

It's still a cheaper price than what Rightstuf.com and Amazon is offering for it, I checked. I'd say that's as good as we're going to get even though it's still a total ripoff for one measly episode. Mad

You're right about that, plus the Bandai store always seems to have them in stock. The only plus side to ordering at rightstuf would be if I made a $150 order, I could get free shipping to Canada. The Bandai store doesn't offer any kind of shipping discount to Canada.

Finally got an shipping confirmation email from the Bandai Store that my Kurokami DVDs that I ordered back on Nov. 23 are on their way to me. I was starting to wonder if they'd be sent before the Bandai Store closes on the 29th.

For a closing sale, I'm surprised these deals aren't better. At least people are finally swooping up Kurokami. Fun show that got a bad wrap because of how it was handled.
