If you are reporting a problem (crashing) caused by this banner on your computer, please include as much of the following information as possible:
What version of Flash do you have installed ? (Find out here). What browser & Version are you using? (Find out by clicking on Help -> About in yrou browser). What Operating System, version and Service Pack are you using (ie: Windows XP Sp 2). Thanks! Back to Raja's regularly scheduled post: -------------------------------------------- The subject says it all, really. It's kind of annoying, and it loops. I don't mind watching old Bugs Bunny cartoons, but just the one phrase over and over doesn't really work for me while I'm reading ANN. edited to add: I see now that it's not looping; rather, it plays every time I mouse over it. Not as annoying, but still... |

Yeah, our TOS states that there can be no sound without user interction, but I haven't decided whether mouse-over is acceptable or not.
If it annoys people I won't allow it again. -t |

It's pretty annoying. Say, on a somewhat different subject, has any consideration been given to a paid, ad-free ANN?

For some odd reason, the Looney Tunes Ads crashes my brower, yet the Tokyopop and Geneon ones have pretty much not done crash my browser.
I either have to Refresh a/or go back and try again to do what I wanna do. And if I post, if the Looney Tunes ads come on, it just goes blank. Also, i think the ads might've contributed to me double posting elsewhere. |

Ton's of consideration. We just don't have the resources to make it right now. That problem should change soon though. -t |

I would like to put in a vote for "no." Between using tabbed browsing on the forums (moving the mouse up through the banner area to close tabs, etc.) and just absently moving the mouse around, I've heard enough of Bugs to put me in a permanent "kill da wabbit" state of mind for a good, long while. |

God, how this banner annoys me. Why is ANN even advertising this? This is the only non-anime ad I've ever seen on this site. My professor screamed at me because the computer was at full volume and when I moved my cursor over the ad to click on the logo at the top, Bugs yells out his annoying catchphrase. You guys really need to remove this banner.

Do you have XP Professional or Home, is it SP1, SP1a or SP2? Remember, XP Pro and Home are both Version 2002 and is too generic. WE NEED MORE INFORMATION! |

Moral: keep your computer muted, or use headphone/earplug instead, at your workplace. |

At first I was skeptical, but they keep returning for more, and bigger campaigns, so there must be a lot of aniem fans that are also Cartoon fans (duh!). Enough must be clicking on the banner and visiting their site to make them continue advertising.
That's your fault. Tons of websites have similar banners on them and worse, some make noice with no interaction at all. If you're browsing in class with the computer at full volume ... ; From the looks of it we'll probably require a cllick for any future sounds. Enough people (although honestly not very many) have said this annoys them. But right now I can't ask them to change a banner that they made to the specs I suplied. -t Last edited by Tempest on Tue Oct 25, 2005 11:03 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I'd suggest trying Flash 8 (current version). Let me know if that doesn't fix the problem. -t |
