Wait... why not Tenchi Universe??????? That's the Tenchi that seems to be the most "remembered".
It's good to see Inuyasha back on [adult swim], but it'll be coming on WAAAAAAY too early for me to watch it (and it was on WAAAAAY too late last night... I fell asleep towards the end of Sym-Bionic Titan, and woke up at some point during the Inuyasha hour before going straight to bed).
I'm glad they're showing Inuyasha again, since it'll get people hyped about The Final Act, which should hopefully be coming to Toonami eventually...
I can't see Highschool of the Dead being on Toonami, since the show is licensed by Sentai, who rarely EVER licenses shows for broadcast (only two Sentai/ADV shows have been on [adult swim]: Neon Genesis Evangelion and Super Milk Chan). Plus, the show has so much fanservice that would need to be censored first. If they don't have a problem with fanservice, the show could easily get by with a TV-MA.
I personally hope Slayers and Shakugan no Shana make their way to Toonami.

And they probably picked GXP, because it was never shown on Cartoon Network or Adult Swim, whereas the first two OVAs, Tenchi Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo all were. |
I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the decisions behind it. Then perhaps they'll start showing the rest of the series in order (OVAs, Universe, Tokyo) like it used to be shown after the OVAs are released on Blu-Ray/DVD and GXP gets its run.
Which, honestly, would be awesome.

That's what I was thinking of when I saw InuYasha on the lineup. Although to really get people hyped up for it, I think they needed to show at least one episode earlier in the block, not both that late.
I'm still waiting for The Final Act as well, which it'd be nice to see if it's introduced to the Toonami line up sometime at the beginning next year. I get the feeling we won't see it sooner than that. XP

So they keep two shows nobody gives two shits about, move back Eureka Seven an entire hour, get rid of a VERY GOOD show, keep a show that people love but are tired of at this point, and tack on a show which people ARE STILL tired of.
Yeah, makes sense to me. >.>

I'd rather watch Tenchi in Tokyo than the garbage Kajishima churned out for the third OVA.
It's painful.

The fact that an OVA could be worse than the pitiful Tenchi in Tokyo is extremely disheartening.

It's a wonder why we haven't gotten together and made what we all really want to see, rather than relying on people who still to this day DON'T GET IT.
Anti-FANSERVICE.
IMHO though, just be happy someone still cares enough to put anything on.

This post is confusing. Are you implying that all we want to see is just fanservice? Because I'm pretty sure that's wrong.

The DVD sales over here say differently. Most of the fanservice stuff are the good sellers.

Because GXP is "new" while Universe has been aired on Toonami before.
I don't get why people would rather this be a pointless nostalgia block than show anything relatively new. Isn't that why they wanted Toonami back? To 'introduce anime to a new audience'?

You are talking about the stuff that doesn't meet broadcast standards. If they show it without previous approval they get fined. From what I understand, sending an episode to the approval board is bureaucratic hell. --Easier and cheaper to do all the editing yourself, resulting in stuff cut and bleeped that is even marginally questionable. And then you have fans complaining about how the network butchered the show. A show like Highschool of the Dead would be butchered beyond recognition. (HSotD really is just the same old grindhouse fare anyway. Live action Grindhouse films very rarely make commercial TV appearances without severe edits)
Fans who think that a fanservice show can appear on any television channel that sells advertising really need to read up on the FCC and broadcasting standards. Granted, the've eased up in a lot of ways in recent years, but it is still very complicated.

If the FUNimation Channel won't air Rin (due to content), do not expect it on Toonami.

Granted, the've eased up in a lot of ways in recent years, but it is still very complicated. | The FCC doesn't regulate what airs on cable channels, last I heard. It has more to do with what their advertisers want. Turner Classic Movies and IFC are also basic cable channels and occasionally air R-rated movies uncensored (though usually after midnight), but appeal to a more narrow demographic. Both have also aired grindhouse material at one point or another.
