There are many funny characters in Japanese animation, so I am starting a thread to discuss everyone's opinion on who their favorite funny anime character is.
Mine is Ishin Kurosaki from Bleach. His constant fights with Ichigo always make me laugh. My personal favorite scene is in episode 64, when the Kuroskai family is eating breakfast, and while Ichigo is talking to Yuzu and Karin, Ishin yells, "An opening!" and kicks Ichigo square in the face. That scene was priceless.

I don't lauch much with anime but I don't think I've laughed more than watching Genzo from Tenshi na Konamaiki. He is so funny because he is such a baddass but when he is in front of Megumi he becomes a complete dumbass.

I would have to say Mugen from Samurai Champloo. It's just so priceless how he takes everything lightly. He could be in the middle of a heated battle and he's not even focusing on it. Also he was priceless in the baseball episode.

wow hmm difficult one i don’t normally watch it for the comedy characters. hmmm I’m not sure mugen was a good one he can be well fanny at times.
mine would have to be piccolo from dragonball where he learns to drive. its one of the funniest episodes ever. piccolo seriousness can be sometimes be a little tidies but this episode offers some light comedy relief which is damn cool. thanks

I have never been a comedy anime fan, but the guys that pop in mind right now and made me really laugh are the 'Baka Trio' from Green Green, they are just H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S, especially the way Ichibanboshi tries to access the girls, and generally their plans as a trio for that!

My favorite is Yachiru from Bleach, the way she looks along with what she says makes her really funny. The scene when spoiler[she spat on Ikkaku's bald head was hilarious,] I laughed and laughed and laughed.

It's awfully tempting to name someone like Excel from Excel Saga here, but I have to defer to Sousuke in Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu instead. His socially clueless, military-overkill tactics had me laughing out loud more often than any other anime character in recent memory.

Darn it. You beat me to Sousuke! He is very funny and doesn't mean to be. Everything he does is with complete seriousness, from taking out the garbage to watermelon smashing, and just turns hilarious.
So, since I still have to pick someone, I'll pick Dita from Vandread. She runs around after Hibiki, calling him "Mr. Alien" the entire time. She is the classical sweet but clumsy and very funny heroine. She honest about her feelings even when she doesn't understand why she wants to chase after, feed, etc. Hibiki. |

I would have to say the funniest anime character would have to be Onizuka from GTO because he is completely random with, on a subconsious level, some method behind it. This also goes in hand with the fact that he is teaching kids and he is nothing more than a large child himself.

The funniest anime character is Golgo 13. The way he kills his targets and gets the girls is beyond hilarious.

I really can't disagree with the other people who have said Sousuke. Just the way he acts and the situations in Full Metal Panic? Fumofuu, they're hilarious. Dokuro-chan from Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan is also hilarious. I never got tired of seeing all of the different ways she can kill Sakura with her Excalibolg. Guu from Hare+Guu also comes to mind but she's not really a "LMAO" kind of funny, more subtle kind of funny.
Ya, Himeko, she's crazy. I actually found Ichijo to be the funniest though. I found Becky to me more cute then funny. |

I find Chiyo from Azumanga Daioh to be funny (In a cute way) and Osaka for her airhead personality. Also Sousake gets my vote because his giddy military humor had me cracking up throughout FMP and FMP:F(Chidori : "Look at the object floating", Sousuke : "Thank god its not a bomb")
