I find this man, Yasuhiro Imagawa, to be one of the most underrated anime directors in history.

My favourite Gundam series, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, was directed by him. The show is so ridiculous and insane I can't not love it.

Then, there's the fact that he was a screenwriter for Berserk. Berserk! Need I say more?

He's also currently directing the new Tetsujin 28th anime, which I find myself enjoying immensely.

But most of all, Yasuhiro Imagawa was the main man behind my personal favourite series of all time, the Giant Robo OVA.

So can we give him some love, people?

I'm probably one of the biggest G Gundam fans out there, and yeah the guy probably should get some more recognition for his work (especially since Berserk is so loved). And no offense but just for the sake of the forums, is there something specific about him that you would like to talk about? I mean we can't really just post "yays" or "nays" here. Anyway, the man knows action. But he probably needs to work on something a little more mainstream to get some love here in the US.

Hm, you're right about that. He definitely doesn't work on anything remotely mainstream.

As far as the topic of discussion, I just thought we'd discuss his works and his overall style.

Is there something else this man has done beside Gundam?

Not after you mentioned the fact that Yasuhiro Imagawa directed G Gundam. G Gundam and love these two words are incompatible.

Let's see, I've been avoiding anything Gundam for the same reason I avoid Dragon Ball; it's just too much to get into.

I have seen Virgin Fleet and wasn't really impressed by it although I liked the characters. The concept of spoiler[girl puts of eloping with boyfriend to save the world ]was done pretty well though.

Imagawa came to Anime Expo back in I believe 1994. I managed to have lunch with him and Makoto Kobayashi. He talked about many of his favorite shows, and was really into Star Trek. I had him sign my Dunbine laser discs, which were already signed by Tomino a couple of years before (and Kitazume a couple after). Imagawa saw this and said "ah Tomino sensei, he is my hero and my friend." He really is one of those talents who can produce, write, storyboard, and direct, plus he is a really nice guy.
