I'm asking for a recommendation because I can't really describe the genre I'm looking for. I like shounen with a lot of fighting/action, and a lot of adventure/epic aspects to it. Also, I like a little humor and romance thrown in, and some fantasy wouldn't hurt (I told you it's hard to describe). Some titles I liked that I think fit my description are Chrno Crusade, Scrapped Princess, and Fullmetal Alchemist if that helps any. The genre aside, I think the main thing I like about these titles are the characters; they're very memorable, have great depth and background to them, and you basically know them a you would a friend by the end of the series.
Princess Mononoke would probably fit in there too, and I liked it a lot. But then that would mess up the whole 'main girl being blonde' theme. Oh yea, this is my first post so...I hope I'm doing this right. |

Well currently there is a review on the front page of My-Hime Vol.1 and this is a quote at the bottom of the review;
You might want to check it out. I haven't seen it but since you mentioned FMA, I figured I'd let you know. |

Twelve Kingdoms doesn't have much humor or romance, but there's one hell lot of adventure and quite a bit of action. It's one of those fantasy-setting animes which describes its world so vividly that you can't help but be pulled in. The characters are very memorable, especially the main character as she grows stronger (both mentally and physically) during the series. Plus. its 45 episodes.

For a bit older anime, look at Ranma 1/2, it is funny, has lots of action, romance and drama. Also come on anything that has spoiler[people turning into animals or well their opposite sex makes this worth seeing. ] Though I it might have a bit more romance then the others, I still really enjoyed it. Hopes this helps.

Welcome, Ryozo! Hope that you enjoy it here. I joined just this year myself and have enjoyed myself greatly! And spent more money than I should because of this forum!
Two titles that I would recommend to you would be Fushigi Yugi & Ceres. Both are complete so you won't have to wait to see what happens. Both stories are a bit dark but they have their funny, light-hearted moments as well, the same as the titles you listed. Hope you like! |

You could try Samurai Deeper Kyo as that has action, a smidge of humor, supernatural elements and is in line with the
Kyo Kara Maoh might also interest you (fantasy world, humor, and action) though the focus is most-decidely on the bishounen characters. |

One series that gets mentioned as similar to FMA is Wolf's Rain. It's a dark, epic fantasy story with a fair amount of violence & romance. Because it focuses on a band of four wolves, you feel like you're in there with them, as "one of the pack." Much like FMA, it's an adventure/quest with characters seeking a certain goal with all their might. Animation quality/detail is high, so I very much recommend Wolf's Rain. You might also like Last Exile, which has worldwide conflict and numerous battles between airships and between smaller "vanships" (think X-wing fighters without the X or the wings

Sounds like you may like Bleach, I suggest checking it out when it airs on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block in September. It takes a few episodes to get going but from what I've seen of it it's quite excellent especially when the Soul Society arc begins.
Also for something similiar to Fullmetal Alchemist check out Witch Hunter Robin which is an excellent series, set in modern times, revolving arround a team who deal with humans who possess abnormal powers. Robin is sent to them as a replacement for one of their members who was killed only Robin is craft user herself and finds it difficult to adjust to her new coworkers and the way they do things. |

I thought Wolf's Rain was really violent, specially the first and last couple of episodes. As for romance, I don't remember their being much. Does "love" or comrodary count as romance? I mean they all cared for each other, but not in the way we might think when we first hear the word "romance". Still I recommend it as well. An Anime Legends complete collection has been announced by Bandai and will be released on July 25th with an MSRP of $49.99. |

Not to be cynical, but you kind of described about 70% of popular, contemporary anime.
But looking at all the things you described, I'm amazed no one has yet mentioned the classic series Escaflowne, it's practically essential within the adventure genre. |

Agreed, Excaflowne is an excellent anime, and has all the elements you're looking for. Also, it does it all very well. Escaflowne is my all time favorite anime, u just gotta watch it.
And, I can recommend One Piece, which has a ton of fighting, fantasy (devil fruits, mysterious powers), it has humor, is very epic, but no romance. It's romantic, yes, but it has no love stories or any of that sort of thing. Overall it's good, but the manga is much, much better. |

I agree with this. I started watching it on Imaginasian recently and I'm loving it. Hopefully the novels its based on will be released here. My HiME is also very very good and seems to fit in with your tastes. |

[quote="joel_s95387"]
the airship battles always remind me of Battlefleet Gothic which is a plus for me.
well the romance wasnt played up that much, certainly not like a shoujo series but the kind of romance you'd expect to find in what is essentially a shounen series, simple and direct but not dwelled on. spoiler[Blue and Hige, its obvious what it is by the later eps but it doesnt get alot of focus. ] |
