My theory is is that everyone but the main female character whose name escapes me at this moment merges with TEAR and she kills TEAR(with the metronome) and is the only survivor of humanity? If so thats a bitter and bleak ending O.o

I just watched the ending too, and it does seem to make the end of Evangelion look warm and fuzzy. This title has certainly won a place on the shelf marked "Warped".
I'm thinking that the ending is that the Gilgamesh win, all humans die, and Kyoko's body is reanimated to be used to be the new mother of the sucessor race, at a time well in the future.
May have to watch the whole thing again to figure it out.

Alright so I also just finished Gilgamesh and wow what can I say about this series? I mean what a shocking and violent ending to the story known as Gilgamesh, anywho spoiler through the end I can't believe everyone was killed in such an gruesome way. I mean watching the gilgamesh eat away at people, watching Gilgamesh's being destroyed this was a war. As for the actual ending itself, I think that is the end of Mankind and now the start of a new evolution chain. I mean the only person left at end is Kiyoko, who is now carrying child to the new evolutionary chain of being. One things that I really did like is at the very end after the end credits you see a single artwork. That of a tuning fork, and I feel this to be supporting to the New being theory. I mean a tuning fork so that a breed of man can be nuture with a tuning fork to keep it on key.
Right now I am listening to the director journal for the series (Vol 7) and I forgot to metion that this series has done a lot for extra. This Journal is amazing I mean you get to hear everything from casting direction, to hearing how DVD release will be. How many episodes how many Volumes, to how to set up for the premiere at the movie house. For that I just want to thank you ADV at least you put something worth my time in your release.
A great story although I had some high hopes for it, might have left me to think a lower on this series then it should be. Perhaps I need to take sometime and then rewatch it, I am not sure when that might be since I have such a large plate of anime to watch.
Till next time,
