How many episodes long is the anime adaptation to Berserk's Black Swordsman Saga?

They didn't really animate it at all. 1 episode.

Just the first episode which cut the Black Swordsman arc to just one episode really. Also, I think the parts about Gutts' childhood were contained in the Black Swordsman arc and you can find parts of this around the early episodes of the anime. (I'm taking the Black Swordsman arc to mean the first 3 volumes of the manga. Volume 4 is the start of the Golden Age if I remember correctly.)
But the anime pretty much jumps straight in to the Golden Age arc.

Basically, we get a butchered version of the Black Swordsman arc, and then a butchered version of the Golden Age arc. That's it. Terribly unfortunate. Still a great series, just...missing a lot.
The manga is much better.
