It says right in the article that this is an adaption of the 12th light novel.
I'm really surprised the manga is continuing past where the anime ended. That rarely ever happens. I wonder what it is about this series that is making it so special? Plenty of other popular light novel anime had their manga end where the anime ended.

Dude the two in the picture are sisters. While one of them does have yuri tendencies, her target of affection is Miyuki, aka biggest bro con in the world, not to mention the Mahouka world in general is pretty strictly toned with sexual things in general, so I doubt something like yuri would fly.

Change "Spin-off" with "continuation" and you're 100% correct. :3
