OMG yes, I'm so freaking happy! I love this manga so much and I knew this would get an anime, hopefully it goes to some competent people, I really would love to see this get a good adaptation.

Did the author watch Lee Sang-il's Unforgiven & think "I'm gonna shonenise that!" ?

Shounen? Golden Kamui? God damn no, it's seinen right from the start.
And well, no. It's different things, too different. Except yes, to what is Golden Kamui close in terms of style and plot is the western movies.

I remember a rumor about this before. Glad it's coming for real now.

Personally, I'm very excited about this news. Hope they get a good studio for this (my pick would be between Madhouse or Production I.G.)

I read the first volume recently. It's a Western film genre story set in Hokkaido: former soldier in gold-rush territory teams up with young native girl on a search for treasure and revenge, and it's as good as everyone's been hyping. There's nothing especially fantastical about it as of the first volume, (as in magic, fantasy, paranormal), so they totally could have gone live action with an adaptation, but I'm glad it's getting an anime.

If "realistic action packed historical fiction manga" becomes the next big anime adaptation trend, I vote for Vinland Saga next!

I read the first volume and loved it that this and Land of The Lustrous are both getting anime adaptations makes me quite happy. Also animated Asiripa is going to be a real treat to watch.

It was more of a when instead of an if, because of how well it is selling. Especially since the less popular Young Jump manga Clean Freak Aoyama Kun got an anime. I am now wondering if it will be censored or not.

The plot sounds interesting. I'll wait for a trailer to decide if I shall watch it.

I don't think it is that likely, only one Young Jump anime has had more than one consecutive cour (Kingdom). However, a lot of Young Jump shows do get sequels.
