The new season of PreCure has a lot to live up to after how successful Huggto has been.

Hmm, that tagline "Paint the sky! My own imagination!". Could this Precure series be more art-based?

You mean besides Junichi Sato being a talented director, most fans generally praising the direction of the series, and the movie being a financial success?

“Paint the sky! My own imagination!”

Art based, perhaps?

“Paint the sky! My own imagination!”?

Bad omen alert

Oh dear god, no, please do not go back to KiraKira's bland, no cqc "fighting". Hugtto made Precure great again, I want it to stay that way.

From what I've heard, Precure shows always seem to jump back and forth between having a good series one year to the next year being more mediocre. I hope they'll announce who the director for Star Twinkle is soon. But I don't think we can judge anything about it's quality just from the synopsis alone. I remember the early synopsis for Huggto made it sound like it was going to be about child rearing or something silly like that.

which is actually true.... they are taking care of a baby. Smile Though it's less a part of the story than it was with Ai-chan in Dokidoki.

They tend to go more in pairs, actually. Fresh and HeartCatch were the series' heydey, it got more average with Suite and Smile, and started really struggling with DokiDoki and HappinessCharge. While Go Princess is being great all on its own, it was followed by the one-two punch of mediocrity that was Mahou Tsukai and KiraKira.

Junichi Sato is indeed talented, but dropped the ball with this one.
I don't really think even with the anniversary hype and using other PreCures, it's been doing extraordinarily well.

Not always - Fresh, HeartCatch and Suite were three consecutive, rather great seasons (some might even include Smile, which I'm not fan of).
Recently we had Kirakira and Hugtto, both being rather excellent.

And reading some interviews about current season - Toei had idea that it would have "motherhood" theme but SatoJun wasn't fan of it, since he already did it in Doremi. Same with Tsubota (scriptwriter) so they put less focus on it.

I just hope they will continue more mature themes in next season - I really like what they did with Henri (and to some extent Masato), so hopefully we'll get more of it next season.
