Interesting to note that this starts airing in the same time slot as Boku no Hero Academia. 11 weeks after the first episode airs. (They both air on NNS at 17:30 JST)
So you could speculate that, the final season could be 11 episodes, split cour, have double length episodes, or have the final few chapters as a film.

Double length episodes is impossible other than maybe once, that would mean going into Conan's timeslot and Conan is far more popular than BnHA, even it's reruns.

There just isn't much left to adapt. They've adapted through chapter 398 and the Manga ends at chapter 431 meaning just 33 chapters left. The average anime episode adapts 4 chapters (sometimes as many as six, sometimes as little as 3). That would mean we could expect about 8-11 episodes but there could be some recap episodes.

Was thinking they could have a premier or conclusion episode be ~40 minutes. Though some news about that would have been out by now.

Action panels take up less run time than dialog panels, if a manga chapter is action heavy it doesn't lead to much screen time, however if a manga is dialog heavy it leads to a very long run time. E.g. you could have a minute long conversation on a page or a four second drawn action shot.
Academia chapters apart from the first one and the odd longer one tended to be 19 pages when the Manga started but are around 15 pages now so the chapters have got shorter over time. You compare that to something like Apothecary Diaries which generally adapts two chapters per episode and its chapters start an arc around 40 pages long then reduce to around 27-29 pages as it progresses before jumping back up to around 40 at the start of the next arc.
