Thank god it's actually a second season and not a movie.

I'm glad it's getting more made but this makes it more baffling why Netflix didn't dub this.

No surprise whatsoever. It's been clear for the last few weeks that one quarter wasn't going to finish the story, and with the show being popular both on this website and other metrics which streaming companies like Netflix monitor it's a foregone conclusion this was getting at least another quarter.

I’m glad that I’m not the only one tired of movies being the sequels to anime seasons. |

The first season was a fantastic adaption so I'm glad that not only are we getting a second season but it's likely to complete the story!
(Though it'll probably be a while before we see it...) [/list] |

Yeah, just now I checked out Young Ace UP's website and the manga is only up to chapter 39, which means the anime has already covered two thirds of the existing material. I guess they'll have to wait for the manga to end before animating the rest of it. |

I have just been thinking about picking this up - even despite of the light BL content - but now I think I'll hold off until the second season is out and the story is finished.

Hope what seems like the success of this first season affords them more time and resources (instead of what I fear, which is just getting less pre-production time to capitalize quicker). Because boy some of those episodes looked ROUGH as things went on, the final episode included

Feel free to do so, but the manga is still going and season 2 might take more than a year to release because the season covered 2/3rds of the chapters released, I think. |

Who could say but I guessed that Netflix was likely prioritizing with the weekly dub simulcasts for Sakamoto Days, DanDanDan, and to a lesser extent Witch Watch, particularly the former two anime series this summer which would likely explain why The Summer Hikaru Died didn't get a simuldub release despite being released weekly. It's similar to what happened to Blue Box when it was released weekly without a dub as Netflix was prioritizing with the simuldub releases on DanDaDan and Ranma ½ back in October of last year. I guess Sakamoto Days was both a positive and to a degree a negative influence on Netflix's part for their anime output, as they put WAY Too much attention and priority on that show over the Summer 2025 anime Netflix licensed (e.g., The Fragrant Flower, The Summer Hikaru Died). Hopefully, whenever the second season of Hikaru returns, Netflix will give this a simuldub weekly release this time. |

This isn't uncommon with Netflix, not everything they license gets dubbed right away. You just have to be patient sometimes. |
