I’m satisfied, Digimon and Gachiakuta were the ones I cared about (and One Piece, but that one seems eternally safe).

I would like to know what the ranking of the votes was useful for. Did any series fell out because it was placed lower than other, with the same votes?

For this go around, no series was "knocked out" of being covered despite having more votes than what was covered. Within the series that are being reviewed, some did rank higher than others despite having fewer (but not significantly fewer) votes, meaning that those who voted for them did "want" those series reviewed more.

The clearest example of this is May I Ask for One Last Thing? which had about 20 fewer votes than Spy x Family but was more "in-demand" than Spy x Family.

Who’s reviewing Ranma S2? I may just be illiterate but I didn’t see it on this list. Per the article it made the top five, so I assume it’s getting reviewed.

Kind of bummed no one is reviewing Cat's Eye...though I guess there probably would've been a weird long hiatus for the review once it stops airing until December.

Wow, I only voted for Digimon Beatbreak and Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider and I didn't think either would make it but I'm pleasantly surprised!

YES YES WHO MADE ME A PRINCESS!

As usual, Pretty Cure deserved better, as did Kakuriyo (THE best isekai).

Damn, can't believe Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon: My Trusted Companions Tried to Kill Me, But Thanks to the Gift of an Unlimited Gacha I Got LVL 9999 Friends and Am Out For Revenge on My Former Party Members didn't make the cut! My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined! Except not. Even if part of me does wonder how my arguably favorite trashy joint this season fared.... (Probably, low. Rightfully so.)

Delighted Scarlet was so utterly popular, I really feel it. She's great. Naturally Beckett is covering her glorious exploits. Shame about no Kimi Pre, but least I can likely expect Silverman giving it some talk in these ever stuffed seasons.

Something that I find a little curious is the absence of something with such backing and marketing push as Chitose, which scored around as much as Marie — possibly, it just tiered lower to it among those that voted it on at all. Usually I expect those series to, on balance, be decently popular. Romcoms and similar tend to, in my experience over the years, go well. I guess Saku's that much of a fuccboi, eh. Another drop for me was Who Made Me A Princess so it's cool it's on there.

Conversely, not that I'm complaining about either, My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's apparently doing well enough to make it. Kind of wonder if this isn't like The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic some time back doing well enough despite its also falling back onto particular genre standbys in a broadly derided genre amongst readers and critics.

Likewise, Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation, which hasn't even had its debut yet haha. That's entertaining.

A lot of these are "Yeah, no wonder," but I am delighted enough people liked and wanted to see more of A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace for it to make the DSRs. Really been loving that, and I think it stands out from the pack, and is just so cozy. Another pleasant surprise is A Star Brighter Than the Sun. Shame The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess just didn't do as well enough overall (although purely looking at scores it calls to mind Chiramune), since that's another I find simply special and actually making valuable, affectionate use of its isekai tool.

The Fall 2025 anime season was much lower-energy than summer, but I want to give a shoutout to the surplus of romance and shojosei adaptations. This audience is often underrepresented, and I'd hate to see this whole season dismissed because the tables are turned for a season.

Absolutely. I believe that's... 8? Star (girl-led romance, Bessatsu Margaret), Maria (girl-led romance, LaLa), Monster Meat (girl-led romance, Palcy which covers shōjōsei), Our Love (girl-led romance, Manga Mee in Margaret Comics), Mangaka (romance is in its veins), This Monster (straight up yuri horror romance), Fragrant Flower by way of being a romance (runs in Shōnen Magazine Comics), classic romcom and more Ranma ½. Who Made Me is definitely specifically some otome isekai, though I don't recall talk of romance playing a pivotal role, which I could be mistaken on, and it just runs on regular webcomic services.
Edit: Whoops, don't know how I forgot what i've been following and loving, but Yano makes it 9 (that's the opposite of dumb!).

My mistake! Caitlin Moore is returning for Ranma and also reviewing The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess

Was the ranking used in a proportional representation scheme? Of so, great! Since that scheme generally produces outcomes that more people are happier with than first-past-the-post schemes.

While I can definitely see the value added by the new ranking system for votes, I would like to urge ANN to look into finding a more accessible implementation of the ranking interface. The one used this time both:
  • cannot be interacted with via keyboard-only input
  • requires dragging movement when using a mouse
Both of these issues are known failures of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (Specifically criteria 2.1.1 Keyboard and 2.5.7 Dragging Movements, respectively) and pose a serious barrier to engaging with the review voting process.

The real trick will be keeping Digimon around; the Adventure reboot was voted in, but failed to keep enough interest for all four cours.

I am delighted!! Yes, that show absolutely deserves its villainess-flavored flowers.

My plan is to use the manga to get as much of the text-based jokes to the readers as possible!

I think I only voted for about 13 series this time, when normally I'd tag 20-25. That speaks loudly to me of how weak this season is.

That aside, I am most delighted to see that Richard will be reviewing Isekai Quartet S3 after all! Yay, yippee and yapai! And thank you!
