I wouldn't worry too much until there are actual details. For now it's just him tweeting stuff. What constitutes a foreign movie vs. an american-made movie is a super complex subject in our global era. Is it only for movies in theaters? What about streaming? What about co-productions? How do you put tariffs on IP?
What about the Castlevania show? IP from Japan, writing and pre-prod in the US, animation partially outside the US, etc... What if your movie partially takes place in Greece? You have to CG Greek backdrops while filming off the coast of Maine? Who even pays for the tariffs? Distributors, production, the movie theaters when they order the reels/hard drives? |
