Wow, that's crazy! Many people (including me) have very fond memories of this series, so I'm super happy about this!

In this era where even some short-lived Shonen Jump series are getting anime adaptations, I figured they'd eventually remember Psyren, which never got animated despite its respectable 16-volume run. Could this be the longest Shonen Jump series of this century that had never been animated before? Anyway, I'm happy for Iwashiro and the manga's fans.

I could be remembering this wrong, but didn’t Psyreb get a pretty abrupt end due to getting the axe due to low sales or something? I hope this gives the series a chance at a proper ending this time!

If you're only looking at "started & ran in the 00s" then the answer is no, because Mr. Fullswing has still never been adapted into anime, and that ran for 24 volumes. There's also Inumarudashii, which ran for longer than Psyren but with half-length chapters, so it's technically shorter. There's also Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar, which was made into (flash) anime but never a TV series, as well as Isobe Isobee Monogatari, too, but that one's from the 2010s. Technically, according to Jajanken, Psyren is only the ~108th longest Jump manga of all time (tied with Rising Impact), so there are numerous other titles that ran for longer that still never received an anime adaptation, or simply a TV anime, but most of those are from the 70s & 80s. Neat to see Psyren finally get an anime adaptation, though, as it definitely had long been one of those strong cult classics that I know some people are absolutely crazy about, so it'll be interesting to see if it can find a new audience via the anime. |

Remow, huh? So it'll likely be on their YouTube, unless they licensed it to Amazon or Netflix. I remember hearing about this series ages ago, I'm surprised it took so long to get an adaptation. I wonder if the recent trend of older Jump titles getting remakes have led to this adaptation?

Jump rushed the manga´s ending to the point that a light novel had to be made along the final volume to reach an ending but now they drag out an anime over a decade after the IP went cold. Reaching about 10 volumes in Jump is basically a guarantee to be adapted... at some point. Angel Densetsu bros, one day it will be our turn to get more than 2 OVAs. Monthly Jump or not.

Huh. Thats. Surprising. I enjoyed Psyren quite a bit but the rushed ending left a sour taste in my mouth.
I Always hated the cut-throat nature of shonen jump where slower stories don't get the chance to develop. Makes me wish that the authors were allowed to finish their stories properly, perhaps on another platform. Even if it was digital only the fans would at least get to see the stories completed. Though I wonder how many authors would actually do this if presented the option opposed to working on something new. This does give me hope for Mx0, which is quite possibly the cruellest thing of all. |

Not sure, but I think I followed Psyren manga as soon as they translated the first chapter.
Too bad they haven't made anime in 2000s, I wonder who would have voiced characters back then. EDIT: Just saw that Ageha was voiced by Takahiro Sakurai, and Sakurako by Yui Horie - vomic. Too bad, both of them are legends, and it would have been great to hear them in anime as well. |

In the official PV, they stated "nominated three times in the 'Manga we want to have an Anime' awards". Maybe that helped. I mean, a cancelled series hold some fans after some years, just to dwindle over the years, but Psyren remained strong. I mean, who is asking anymore for a Magu-chan anime?
