Wait, I heard somewhere that it wasn't possible to make more Momo anime because the original writer's estate held the rights and wouldn't let anyone do so. I guess that's been resolved somehow?

Wait, One of my favorite mahou shoujo ever is back ?! Just Yes! ( Please don't die again Momo even if it's for a few episodes, i remember crying so much long ago )
After Pierrot now it's Ashi Prod, can we hope for more Ojamajo Doremi next ?

To be honest, I did expect that at some point Minky Momo anime would return, but it's still insane to see it actually happening.

What you have referred to might be the scriptwriter Shudō Takeshi's having rights-wise criticised the 2010 stage musical version of Minky Momo and his having also criticised Production Reed/Ashi Productions and its executives regarding the stage musical.
Shudō said that he would take the matter to court, but it did not go to trial, probably because Mr Shudō passed away in 2010.

I have heard the theory that since Shudō Takeshi was a member of the planning section of Ashi Productions, the rights to Minky Momo belong to Ashi Productions, but I'm not sure whether it is valid.
Regarding the new Minky Momo OVA, I don't know whether Ashi Productions 'forces its way' like the stage musical case or the company has made a deal with Mr Shudō's estate (and the staffers of the previous Minky Momo anime).
At least, Watanabe Hiroshi has drawn the Minky Momo visual for the new OVA.

If Truck-kun comes for her this time, she would get isekai'd.
Speaking of, didn't an earthquake happen the same time that happened in the anime?

Will Megumi Hayashibara return as Momo’s voice?

That was surprsing (as surprising to see certain series in the commemorative video) .
Well, I'm certainly interested.

I may be wrong, but from what I remember (think I've seen the 90s series almost 30 years ago) it's not a reboot but an actual sequel since the original Minky Momo (human version) appears as well.

So, is this Minky Momo the one from the original series, the one voiced by Mami Koyama, because if I'm not mistaken the '90s version of Minky Momo was technically a different character and was voiced by Megumi Hayashibara.

Isn't Minky Momo more of a reverse isekai, someone from a fantasy land transported to the human world?

People are just making getting hit by truck jokes because it's the one thing they know about Minky Momo lol

Oh yeah, I forgot about that infamous episode written by Takeshi Shudo. Though among Latin American fans, most people are joking that a new Minky Momo anime will lead to a new earthquake in Japan, it's because the story that is said to be linked to earthquakes has become a bigger meme that the truck thing.

Hope she gets run over again by Truck-Kun, and gets isekai, may be as Miki Momo-taro this time.

Considering the resurgence of classic Magical Girl vibes and franchises, Minky Momo making a comeback does not surprise me.
