Isekai Office Worker: The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter was published on Narō before getting an LN.

? Light novels in general usually start as webnovels, and usually on Narou. |

Well, Kunon is a stupendously easy drop. On top of looking wooden and awkward throughout, it was just an actual irritation to watch. Whenever it tried to be funny, it was insufferable, however much it is obvious Kunon himself is literally putting on airs while trying to find himself. Didn't care for the jokes of Iko's desire for higher pay getting laughed off, or her weird "if I was a bearding middle aged man..." comment towards the girl ~10 years her junior that was totally out-of-pocket for the vibe and herself so far. Also, like, it only existed for a little while, but legit parts of episode 1 gave me discount and somewhat modded Mushoku Tensei in how it setup the supporting girls, and focused on developing the water spell? Alongside being utterly sauceless, unfortunately, though. This is one of those I was excited for, before trailers gave me pause, and opting to give it a shot anyway. It also feels like an only thinly veiled version of those particular Naroū-kei joints, except with the chassis of a disabled savant. Which could be interesting, with vastly more engaging writing and animation. Going to just read this one, but if the cast is as annoying in text...
Meanwhile, Tamon was one I'd written off beforehand because what I saw felt like a recognizably bad type of gloss. But oh man, even if this is also a drop, I'm glad to be wrong: A shōjo anime that actually moves! And with such character! It's not just Hayamin giving Utage such palpably warm, enthusiastic energy (sometimes it feels like the seiyū are all I can praise without caveat), Nagaoka Chika's propulsive directing helps move it along super well, and so much of the boarding feels like I'm actually allowed to appreciate the interiority she and Gloomyfukuhara have. It even, legitimately, had some good faces and adorable transitions (like Utage wiping away her fantasies in class). Unfortunately, this just isn't for me, and if it didn't actually cut some content to give it the 'accelerated' feeling I got, the manga likely isn't for me either; too much of it felt like it went by way too fast, and I just wasn't given enough time to really sit with either of our duo in appreciation. Like it was lowkey "rushing to get to the good stuff," even though it was already nice. Still nice to see something move like this move all the same. @Blanchimont: Yes. I was answering Shay Guy's comment on the prior page (and did not realize I'd be posting on a new one). |

As someone who enjoyed the intricacies and plotting of Baccano! but only watched Unlimited Blade Works (and has a vague recollection of reading summaries of the OG Fate endings), is Fake for me or is this like, hardcore Fate stuff?

It is hardcore Type-Moon stuff (Whispers of Dawn features a vocal cameo by a guy who up to the release of the FsF novels had only been mentioned in Kagetsu Tohya and in a drama CD for Type-Moon's website mascots), but there's nothing that impedes a viewer from just enjoying the ride |

Contrary to the impression the first episode gave, Tamon isn't actually really fast paced. The author seems to just like structuring her first chapters as if they were one off then pulling back for the chapters following. |

Ah, so it was! Maybe I missed that because it was in the Moonlight Novels section? Or maybe I just didn't see it in ANN's reporting -- I generally check when I see an announcement for anything based on a light novel. Added it to the spreadsheet, either way.
You know, that'd be an interesting question to send to Answerman or somewhere -- just what proportion of new LN series, or ongoing series, or new volumes, or volume sales are from WNs nowadays. And how much of that is from the Narou side of things, with Kakuyomu having gained more market share over the years. |

Well, Journal with Witch looks to be the gem of this season. Beautiful episode!
On another note, a bit disappointed about Hana-Kimi. I've never read the manga, but I watched the japanese live action when it came out and I remember I liked it then. But it seems to not having aged so well. I'll stick around for it for nostalgia sake, though. |

I personally think she is all of these (autistic, ADHD, socially anxious and introverted) at the same time. The series (Ikoku Nikki/Journal with Witch) is one of the first series I have watched and it already seems to be candidate for Anime of the Season, which says a lot considering I'm a Fate and Narita fan Fate/Strange Fake is kinda hard to talk about, as this is episode we have seen already, but it's great. Hopefully to just as good continuation! Yuusha-kei ni Shosu/Sentenced to Be a Hero is edgy, but it seems interesting and that animation is amazing. I also agree it was great at showing that there is clearly more to the protagonist though entire episode. Hopefully it will stay good! |

I got a few chuckles out of James's creative reenactment of the creation of strange fake but I think its worth noting the reality was simultaneously more mundane yet crazier.
As a truncated summery for those unaware it in 2007 Narita and Makoto Sanada (the other of among other things the Lord El Melloi II books) got together and created a fanfiction ttrpg they called fate/states night with Narita doing the story elements and Sanada doing the game design. they then posted the written prologue to Narita's website only to wake up to find out that because they sent an early copy to Nasu, Nasu got the type moon website to link to Naritas website for people to read it. later it got fleshed out into a short story and then years after that it was one of the headline titles for the type moon books brand. |

Guys it's so easy to see when/if an episode has aired on anichart, I don't think the preview guide needs *every* piece of information about a show. It takes seconds to check it yourself.
Siegbert isn't a fantasy name though, that's just an old germanic name. You are correct on the coolness/lameness though I haven't watched Torture guys' days off or whatever it was called and I don't want to, I just wanted to chime in with a reminder that torture doesn't work! Torture victims are going to tell you what they think you want to hear whether it's true or not because they are being tortured!! |

Just One of the Boys wasn't awful, and I'll likely keep watching, but if I stick with it for long, I'll probably grind my teeth to nubs. I feel like I spent most of these two eps wondering what she would do about bathing after they mentioned the rule about no showering after 9 pm. But then it's no problem since apparently the rooms have their own baths. So why that rule? Also, how did she manage to kill his watch way over on the sink from shower splash? He'd better never wear it in the rain...
Sentenced to Be an Edgelord was better than I was hoping for. I don't care for the monster designs, though they're at least creative, but one thing I did really enjoy was watching Xylo fwipping around throwing knives and swords that had a satisfying sense of weight and dynamism to them. I'll stick around for more of that. I won't be sticking around for more of All the Girls Can See Kunon though. I was really feeling for poor Ixio before the two eps were over. There was a lot of potential in the premise, utterly wasted in using it to showcase The Amazing Kunon The Magnificent and His Harem. The Daily Torture of a Part-Time Viewer wasn't so much offensive or uncomfortable as just excruciatingly boring. About the tenth time they made me look at one of the three different wall signs I started to think the people behind this were running their own psychological torture sessions to see how long it would take to break the viewers. Well, they win, I'm out. Noble Reiteration: Ultimate Repetitive Power had some moments here and there, but ultimately couldn't rise above its heterochromia as its most notable facet. Speaking of heterochromia, is it just me or has there been a recent flood of such characters over the last few months? It seems like there were a few years with hardly any, but I've lost count of how many I've noticed lately. And speaking of floods, Noah Ararat? With a water affinity? Seriously? Coming off of these bombs, Dowsing With Witch was a cool splash of water. I love anything that subtly reinforces its imagery, like all the feet that keep popping up in Die Hard, or the many references to dryness in this. Also, Makio is me, except for occupation. Definite keeper. |
