Great interview! I highly recommend everyone check this series out. It's goofy, lovable, and an all-around fun watch. I feel Dou's behavior is very realistic in the sense that, she's just a kid, doesn't really know what she's doing, but with hilarious results, because of how innocent she is. It's a cheery counterpoint to some of the heavier, darker stuff from this season, and good for, at least a few chuckles (or in my case, a lot of laughs).

I really have been enjoying the the adorable little bundle of good-willed chaos that is Doux. The interview was interesting but the detail I'm blown away by is that she is voiced by an adult actress, I was absolutely convinced it was a child actress while watching the series.

It's funny to read how even directors have genre's they're tired of working on or would immediately say no to.
But Misaki Kuno does have an uncanny ability to match a childs' voice and mannerisms.

I'm a fan of a lot of anime with Masahiko Ohta either as series director or episode director and he is especially notable to me for having directed two of the oldest series on my "anime I still wish would get licensed for physical media in North America" list, Minami-ke (autumn 2007; note that Ohta only directed the first season) and Gabriel DropOut (winter 2017).

Thanks for the informative interview! It was nice to get a glimpse behind the curtain for this wholesome and heartwarming show.

This is an accurate translation? Only Umaru-chan was a high schooler... the other anime mentioned were about middle schoolers mostly with some elementary schoolers (Chiaki in Minami-ke)

Chiaki's oldest sister, Haruka Minami, is in high school and there's a whole set of supporting characters who are Haruka's classmates in high school including one of the most memorable supporting characters in the entire series, Hosaka (the fantasy-prone guy infatuated with Haruka who always gets too caught up in his daydreams to actually get around to talking to her).
A different Haruka, Haruka Kotoura, the lead character of Kotoura-san, the winter 2013 anime directed by Masahiko Ohta, is just starting high school in the series.
