I didn't read much of the manga but this is definitely a good title for SHAFT headtilts.

So do the characters all have barbie doll like bodies with no bits or is it one of those "You are what you feel" type deals?

They're born without being specifically male or female (in the physical sense) until they become one or the other around when puberty would be. The protagonist is unique in that they remained neither long past the point that it's supposed to happen.

I forget the finer details, like I vaguely recall that the way someone feels influences the outcome. I think that's why the protagonist is in the ambiguous state, but I'm not certain about that.

It's nothing like Simoun outside of the general idea of choosing your physical sex. Simoun is a sci-fi series featuring futuristic magitech aircraft and war. This is a school romantic drama.

Social media already spoiled the ending to me since apparently it's not very nice and they had to let people know ahead of time. Ah well. I'll still watch it....
