I'm probably going to get some punishment for asking this, but I'll try it anyway -.-
Are there any fully CG movies [i guess cell shading works too] out there other than Advent Children and Appleseed Ex Machina? I really like the style and stuff, so I was wondering if anybody knows some more movies of similar animation style. Do note that I searched around and CG doesn't really count as a genre in many anime databases. I also searched the forums and bit and the only stuff I could find was "Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within Us" and a few other small ones that I need to look into... Soo...any other CG movies out there? [no crap plox :3] |

Well, there's Vexille which will be released on DVD by Funimation next month. I haven't seen it though so I couldn't attest to it's quality.

There's also the earlier Appleseed movie.

i just finished Vexille, it wasn't half bad
Compared to Appleseed Ex Machina, it was a lot more violent and the storyline was darker~ Still, I preferred Applseed Ex Machina. Is it worth it to go back and watch the first Appleseed movie? I don't want it to ruin the taste I acquired for the sequel... And err...any more CG stuff out there? It seems kinda rare. P.S. Oh yea, I love actiony theatrical stuff btw~ Thanks again |

I'd say go watch the first Appleseed; I liked it a lot more than Ex Machina, but I'm a die-hard manga fan and I heartily disapprove of Tereus not being black and flashback!Bri not being 9 years older than Deunan, so my opinion is a little skewed. The two movies have little to do with each other, though. I think the reason you don't see a lot of CGI anime is because they're still working a lot of the kinks out with it. I've yet to see a CGI film without parts where the motions are awkward or there's some weirdness in the backgrounds that sticks out. Even Advent Children, while lovely to watch, had scenes (like with all of the townspeople randomly walking around) where you wondered why they were showing it other than to show off the animation. That said, I'll have to check out Vexille. |

I've seen Gundam MS IGLOO, there's like 2 or 3 OVA's, in my opinion the story lines aren't too bad. the animation is really good, so if CGI is what your looking for, those may be something to look into.
i enjoyed them simply because i enjoy mecha, and to see gundams a little more "realistic?" it was quite interesting |

It should be mentioned that the only way to get that though is through a select few ammount of websites since Bandai Visual is having trouble distributing and that the DVDs are highly overpriced and sub only.

I don't know if you're interested in unlicensed titles but there's also Yonna in the Solitary Fortress. It's only ~35 minutes and it's pretty unknown as well (I saw it two years ago and there was nothing worth remembering).
