Group B-17

Saber & Shiro Emiya from Fate/Stay Night
vs.
Solty & Roy Revant from Solty Rei

Voting for Solty and Roy per guide and previous comments as I've seen neither.

Group B-18

Shinichi Chiaki & Megumi "Nodame" Noda from Nodame Cantabile
vs.
Albert & Count from Gankutsuou

Voting for Shinichi and Meguma. I know next to nothing about them apart from the guide, but I don't like the other duo at all. I don't think that a pair where spoiler[ one exploits the other this much ] should advance to the next round, basically spoiler[ I've got honesty problems with their relationship].

Group B-19

Athrun Zala & Kira Yamato from Gundam Seed
vs.
Ayato Kamina & Haruka Shitow from Rahxephon

Seen neither, voting for Ayato and Haruka because I prefer a strong romance to a friendship which turned into rivalry.

Group B-20

Minamo "Nyamo" Kurosawa & Yukari Tanizaki from Azumanga Daioh
vs.
Tomoyo Daidoji & Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura

It is true that their friendship and competition is only one aspect of the show, but watching Nyamo and Yukari interacting with each other is one of things I really like in Azumanga Daioh, so they got my vote, even if I like the other pairing as well.

Group B-21

Rakka & Reki from Haibane Renmei
vs.
Hikaru & Kaoru Hitachiin from Ouran High School Host Club

This is the only decision I wasn't so sure about. Rakka and Reiki are the heart of Haibane Renmei, and their helping each other spoiler[ especially at the end] made a huge emotional impact on me, but the twins are so synchronised with each other that initially I was leaning towards them, more so as the Haibane pair eliminated Youko, my favourite anime character ever. But I have to admit that their victory was well deserved and taking account that in the Ouran anime spoiler[the twins are looking as if they are starting to fall apart somewhat manga spoiler spoiler[ even if they get over it later]], I've decided on Rakka and Reiki .

Group B-22

Mireille Bouquet & Kirika Yuumura from Noir
vs.
Lumiere & Eclair from Kiddy Grade

Lumiere and Eclair as I like their guide description more.

Group B-23

Midori Kasugano & Seiji Sawamura from Midori Days
vs.
Nanoka Kohinata & Koshiro Saeki from Koi Kaze

Seen neither, but voting for Nanoka and Koshiro based on guide and hearsay.

Group B-24

Nagisa Furukawa & Tomoya Okazaki from Clannad
vs.
Sousuke Sagara & Kaname Chidori from Full Metal Panic

Kaname and Sousuke , as it has been stated, their relationship work on many-many levels, and their dynamic defines 90% of the show. (The rest is war.) I consider them the strongest pair in group B.

The problem with last round was it's high R2 count which meant that I didn't know 3 out of the 16 couples. That is 1/4 of the matches since they were not paired together. This time around everything is released here and I own 12 of the 16 (still collecting NHK, Black Lagoon Second Barrage and Urusei Yatsura) in their entirety and 15 of the 16 in part.

Group C-17

Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
vs.
Layla Hamilton & Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star

Voting for Layla Hamilton & Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star

I'm pretty sure the Elric Brothers will win this one. I actually really love both duos and feel that Kaleido Star needs a bit of recognition and refuse to let the Fullmetal brothers have a flawless (it was 30:1 last round) victory. Considering how many people have seen these series Kaleido Star would lose even if everyone here who has seen both voted for Layla & Sora. Fortunately the FMA pair is deserving of moving up as well.

Group C-18

Sophie Hatter & Wizard Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle
vs.
Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Voting for Spike Spiegal & Jet Black

Once again there seems to be two duos I'm not thrilled about matched up considering how much I love the C18 pair. If only they were to switch spots this would be so much easier. This is another choice which I have a hard time deciding. The main issue I have with the Howl pair is that it reminds me too much of every other Miyazaki duo. The Bebop crew seems to have more character. I will admit that part of my campaigning for the Bebop boys last round stemmed from my dislike of Hideki from Chobits.

Group C-19

Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth
vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato & Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK

Voting for Zagato & Princess Emeraude

Still have a couple more releases for NHK to go, but I really hate Sato and find him despicable. The man is a lazy slob who lies and makes promises he can't keep. I hear that the ending makes up for some of the series, but avoid people like him in real life. I'm not very keen on the Rayearth couple either.

Group C-20

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi
vs.
Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

Voting for Batou & Motoko Kusanagi

Here we are back to two pairs that I really like. The choice is such a difficult one that I will default on GITS since I prefer it as a series. The other factor is that I didn't care for the Fushigi Yugi OAVs and think that the relationship between Tamahome and Miyaka has come to the point that future developments are hard, while the GITS pair still have a relationship that has an undefined future. I'd be happy if either wins.

Group C-21

Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender
vs.
Lum & Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura

Voting for Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel

Yet another matching where I like both pairs! I'm siding with Blue Gender since these two have a relationship that develops in a complex way in a mere 26 episodes, while the UY pair really don't accomplish much (classic Rumiko Takahashi) in almost 200 episodes. The Blue Gender couple go through an amazing emotional evolution, while the UY episodes can be seen in almost any order.

Group C-22

Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers
vs.
James & Jessie from Pokemon

Voting for Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers

Guess which is the only series out of these 16 that I don't own? I really wish we saw more of the ex-Volts members outside of the Limitless Fortress episodes. This is one of the only pairings this time around where I didn't need to think about which one I would vote for.

Group C-23

Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson from Trigun
vs.
Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon

Voting for Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson

Another one I can go either way on. I really hope that best rivals will be the next tournament since I think Vash and Knives are so intense. These two are a classic comedy team, although I don't find pairs like these particularly string. I still don't see Rock and Revy as a strong pair, or at least more than Dutch and either of them.

Group C-24

Hubb & Cher from Wolf’s Rain
vs.
Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

Voting for Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

The only other easy choice this time around. Christmas and Kurau are probably my favorite pair in the tournament. That last episode is so touching. The symbiotic nature between these two is so strong that they are lost without the other. Plus they need to win this round since Tsubasa and Hikaru didn't. Hubb and Cher are cute, but their relationship doesn't develop at all throughout the series. Everything that was needed to be said between them was said before the series and nothing much was resolved by the end.

These tournaments make me realize that I watch too much anime. Someday I should muster the strength to watch Pokemon since it remains the only R1 that I have avoided.

Group C-17
Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist

Reason: Layla and Sora are an amazing duo and I wishthey could move on but unfortunately they just aren't amazing enough to beat the brotherly bond of the Elrics. They are one iof the strongest duos here and they simply outclass Sora and Layla. They are family and would die for each other. Sora and Layla just can't compare unfortunately.

Group C-18
Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Reason:Sophie and Howl may be an interesting duo and work at times well together but Spike and Jet simply are there for each other all the time. They are closer knit as they've been through hell alone and together and they more importantly understand each other better then Howl and Sophie. They easily are the stronger duo here in this round.

Group C-19
Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth

Reason: Tatsuhiro & Misaki are far outclassed here. They simply shouldn't have even made it to this round but there is no logical reason they should beat Zagato and Emeraude from Rayearth. Sato simply is lazy and shows no initiative. How can he and Misaki compare to spoiler[2 lovers forced to fight against each other and ultimately die for each other?] Easy, they can't.

Group C-20
Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

Reason: There were stronger duos I think in Fushigi Yuugi for starters. Second, few can compare to the level of trust and friendship shared by Motoko and Batou. They have to trust each other 100% with each others lives in their line of work. They put their trust in each other on a daily basis. They get my vote.

Group C-21
Lum & Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura
Reason: I honestly don't think either is that strong at this point. Nor do I really think either should make it past this round. However, Lum and Ataru do have a stronger friendship from the start IMO and are the classic so they get my vote. I could be swayed here rather easily.

Group C-22
Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers
James & Jessie from Pokemon

Reason: Sorry but the fun stops here. I can't bring myself to vote for those two, especially when they never accomplish a damn thing and become a tired worn out gimmick over the years. They may work together but do we ever even see them call each other friends really? Plus Juubei and Kazuki have been friends since childhood. They have unwavering love and friendship and devotion for each other. Either would gladly sacrifice themselves (and both nearly do on separate occasions too) for each other. They may not be the strongest here but their friendship is stronger here and much more genuine. They deserve to win this one.

Group C-23
Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon
Reason: I like Meryl and Milly and find them the best duo from Trigun. However Rock and Revy just seem to compliment each other much better. They truly are a yin and yang and complete opposites. Both learn and feed off of the other though and they are far stronger as an individual with the other there then Milly or Merly IMO. I like them more, I like the show more, and I think they honestly work better together as a duo just that little bit more then Meryl and Milly. They should win here.

Group C-24
Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

Reason: This is a no brainer to me honestly. There is no way Hubb and Cher can compare to Christmas and Kurau. I mentioned certain pairs completing the other but these two literally do complete the other and literally are called a pair. For a good reason too. Their bonds are stronger then almost any other couple in this whole tournament. Personally I can only think of 3, maybe 4, others in this whole tournament who honestly can compare with their love and devotion. It goes beyond a willingness to die for the other. They both simply feel empty as a person without the other. They might as well be the others oxygen and water for all intents and purposes. Without each other they'd both die inside. There is no conceivable way Hubb and Cher can compare on any level. They are a good duo don't get me wrong, but this is like comparing a paper airplane to a 747. The 747 wins every time hands down.

Think of it as the equivalent to any Rumiko Takahashi series, but with animals that fight. Seriously, it's the same plot over and over and over and over again through countless seasons and battles. They can add all the new damn pokemon they want, they still do the same moves and its the same routine time and again. There is no originality and you could watch any episode and not miss anything besides the names of the other billion pokemon and their special story that is remarkably the same as all the others. It's great for kids but that's it. Plus anymore any damn pokemon can be a lengendary one which makes the idea of one being legendary seem pointless. I mean seriously, they've got over a dozen and of course each one is more powerful then the other. And go figure each area Ash goes to has newer more powerful pokemon. What a coincidence this happens in the order he visits places he magically knew nothing about before beating the last area. Do these kids in the show get taught any sort of geography at all? That ends my rant.

Hmmm, Round B had five total blow-outs but also two wins by a hair. I suspect there will be fewer blow-outs this time, as there are only one or two pairings here where one duo is overwhelmingly better than the other one.

Group C-17

Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
vs.
Layla Hamilton & Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star

People pitched compelling arguments for the Kaleido Star duo in helping them win in Round 1, but I can’t see those arguments being sufficient against the far more intimidating competition they have in Ed and Al. They may be strong enough to prevent a total blow-out, but the only duo in this bracket that is on the level of the Elric brothers is possibly Kurau and Christmas.

Group C-18

Sophie Hatter & Wizard Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle
vs.
Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

I am not crazy about classifying Spike and Jet as a duo, but even so I find them the better pick here than Sophie and Howl, primarily because I’m even less impressed with how good a duo Miyazaki’s twosome makes.

Group C-19

Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth
vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato & Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK

Granted, I’ve only seen the first half of Welcome to the NHK (I have vol. 4 but haven’t had time to get to it yet), but I don’t find them sufficiently compelling so far and am still irked that they beat out Talho and Holland last round. Hence my vote goes instead to Zagato and Emeraude, who don’t strike me as that strong a couple, either, but someone has to win here.

Group C-20

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi
vs.
Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

I know Batou and Motoko won a wipe-out victory last round, but are they really a duo? Hence I go with the so-called “supercouple” Miaka and Tamahome here, which are from a series I haven’t seen but who have entire Web sites devoted to their greatness as a couple.

Group C-21

Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender
vs.
Lum & Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura

Finally, a second group where I’m voting for someone rather than against someone! Lum and Ataru are a neat couple and one of the seminal duos of modern anime romantic comedies, but they were also just the main couple in a vast ensemble cast. Contrarily, most of Blue Gender is specifically about Yuji and Marlene and their struggles to save each other from themselves and slowly, surely build a loving relationship. They are probably the most mature, balanced, and hard-won romantic duo in the whole tournament.

Group C-22

Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers
vs.
James & Jessie from Pokemon

I’m actually not familiar with either duo, but I heard more convincing arguments for the inseparable Jesse and James in the last round.

Group C-23

Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson from Trigun
vs.
Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon

I’m not that convinced that Rock and Revy really count as a duo (I seem to be saying that a lot this group. . .), while Millie and Meryl are definitely a mutually supportive team.

Group C-24

Hubb & Cher from Wolf’s Rain
vs.
Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

Hubb and Cher barely squeaked by in the first round against weak competition, while Kurau and Christmas won much more decisively against a far stronger opponent. That alone should tell you how this match-up should go. Sorry, Wolf’s Rain fans, but Hubb and Cher aren't Round 3 material anyway and are utterly outclassed here against a duo that literally exists as a Pair and compellingly demonstrates the unshakable strength of their relationship with every episode. This one will be an upset if it isn't a huge blow-out.

Group C-17

Voting for: Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist

Reasons: I've only seen about 10 episodes of FMA (it's one of those shows on my list to finish one day), but I can tell you that this bond is so strong.

Group C-18

Voting for: Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Reasons: I don't even like Cowboy Bebop, but I am going to agree with Key that these two are more of a duo than Howl and Sophie.

Group C-19

Voting for: Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth

Reasons: I love the messed up NHK relationship...but I love the MKR one just a bit better. I'm a sucker for spoiler[tragic love stories].

Group C-20

Voting for: Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi

Reasons: I was prepared to vote against these two, because they can be a bit annoying at times...but the guide completely did not sell me and I do love Miaka and Tamahome. So they can continue.

Group C-21

Voting for: Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender

Reasons: I really don't like Rumiko Takahashi and how her series tend to go on, and on, and on. Plus, this pair sounded a bit stronger as far as "duo-ness" goes from the guide as well.

Group C-22

Voting for: Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers

Reasons: Because Jessie and James are well...comic relief villains. I was amused enough to vote for them before, but we're going into round three. Time to get rid of the weakest links. Goodbye Razz

Group C-23

Voting for: Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon

Reasons: Milly & Meryl again are often more comic relief than anything else, though less so than Jessie & James. But I still think that it sounds like the Black Lagoon pair is stronger.

Group C-24

Voting for: Hubb & Cher from Wolf’s Rain

Reasons: So they get at least one vote! Yes, I know they won't win, but I still love them. I was really quite surprised that they got through last round and so yeah, to make sure it's not a blow-out, because I do think Hubb & Cher are a strong duo and I disagree that their relationship doesn't change throughout the series, since they find their way back to each other spoiler[and then die].[/spoiler]

Group C-17

Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
vs.
Layla Hamilton & Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star

Voting for: Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist

Reason: Strongest non-romantic duo in the tournament in my opinion.

Vote change: None

Group C-18

Sophie Hatter & Wizard Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle
vs.
Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Voting for:Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Reason: I didn't get as much out of Sophie and Howl's relationship as I did pure enjoyment from Spike and Jet, could be a series vs movie thing, but it's enough to sway my vote.

Vote change: Low, but possible.

Group C-19

Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth
vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato & Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK

Voting for: Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth

Reason: Going with the old school vibe on this one.

Vote change: Possible

Group C-20

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi
vs.
Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

Voting for: Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

Reason: This was the first tough choice for me this round. I have to go with the things below the surface of this relationship that intrigue me, over the things out in the open in the other relationship that annoy me. That made sense to me... I think.

Vote change: Low, but possible.

Group C-21

Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender
vs.
Lum & Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura

Voting for: Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender

Reason: I love this pair, to anyone who has seen the series, this is one of the strongest pairs out there, The other pair while a classic, has nowhere near the development, or emotionial depth that Yuji and Marlene do.

Vote change: None

Group C-22

Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers
vs.
James & Jessie from Pokemon

Voting for: Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers

Reason: Voting for the pair from the show I actually plan on watching one of these days.

Vote change: possible

Group C-23

Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson from Trigun
vs.
Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon

Voting for: Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon

Reason: Rock and Revy have the more complex and entertaining relationship. Their interactions are second only to the ultra-violence on why Black Lagoon is such a great show.

Vote change: Low

Group C-24

Hubb & Cher from Wolf’s Rain
vs.
Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

Voting for : Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

Reason: I have only watched the first disk of Kurau Pantom Memory (saving the rest of the series for July break). Already their relationship is above and beyond Hubb & Cher's.

Vote change: None

Group C-17

Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
vs.
Layla Hamilton & Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star

Urg. Two couples that I really like. Both of whom went through a great deal of difficulties. But, I think that I'm going to stick with Ed & Al

Group C-18

Sophie Hatter & Wizard Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle
vs.
Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

I like both here but Spike and Jet were not always together. They did their own thing so I'm voting for Howl & Sophie

Group C-19

Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth
vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato & Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK

I'm going to stick with Zagato & Emeraude. What they did was wrong but they did it out of love for the other.

Group C-20

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi
vs.
Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

My fangirl side is just being very firm concerning this! Miaka & Tamahome

Group C-21

Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender
vs.
Lum & Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura

While I'm not familiar with either one, I'm going to go with the older anime: Lum & Ataru.

Group C-22

Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers
vs.
James & Jessie from Pokemon

I was going to vote for Jessie & James...just to be difficult but I've changed my mind...Juubei & Kazuki

Group C-23

Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson from Trigun
vs.
Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon

From previous comments Meryl & Milly

Group C-24

Hubb & Cher from Wolf’s Rain
vs.
Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

I'm going with what I know: Hubb & Cher...and just to tweak Psycho just a tad! Christmas and Kurau will most likely get my vote in the next round.

Last round as in B-2? So, there's Nodame Cantabile, Ouran, and Clannad that aren't availble yet in R1. I only knew half of the couples. That's what the guide was created for, and why people post reasons for their votes.

Group C-17
Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist vs.
Sora Naegino and Layla Hamilton from Kaleido Star vs.
Voting for: Sora & Layla
Reason: I want this match up to be less of a landslide than it is. I suppose this is unusual logic, because I've watched FMA two or three times, but have never seen Kaleido Star.
Possibility for change: Changed

Group C-18
Howl and Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle vs.
Spike Spiegal and Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop
Voting for: Spike & Jet
Reason: I'm bitter that Howl and Sophie beat Simon and Nia last round. I don't think they're a particularly strong couple.
Possibility for change: Slim

Group C-19
Emeraude and Zagato from Magic Knight Rayearth vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato and Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK
Voting for: Tatsuhiro & Misaki
Reason: Um, going with the realistic and individually flawed couple, I guess. I don't know either, and I have neither in this round for the minigame, so I'm completely up for grabs.
Possibility for change: Yes

Group C-20
Miaka and Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi vs.
Motoko and Batou from Ghost in the Shell
Voting for: Motoko & Batou
Reason: Short answer, it's the one I've seen.
Possibility for change: Slim

Group C-21
Marlene and Yuji from Blue Gender vs.
Lum and Ataru from Urusei Yatsura
Voting for: Marlene & Yuji
Reason: Randall and Key have convinced me to switch my vote.
Possibility for change: Changed.

Group C-22
Kazuki and Juubei from Getbackers vs.
Jessie and James from Pokemon
Voting for: Kazuki & Juubei
Reason: Because Kazuki is better at cross-dressing than James. But if I had to give a serious reason, it's because I think Kazuki and Juubei have more depth. I can't think of a display of emotion in Team Rocket that equals spoiler[Juubei's anguish over having betrayed Kazuki.]
Possibility for change: Slim

Group C-23
Millie Thompson and Meryl Strife from Trigun vs.
Rock and Revy from Black Lagoon
Voting for: Rock & Revy
Reason: Millie and Meryl are nice together, but Rock and Revy cause each other to grow.
Possibility for change: No

Group C-24
Hubb and Cher from Wolf's Rain vs.
Kurau and Christmas from Kurau Phantom Memory
Voting for: Kurau & Christmas
Reason: Watching Kurau and Christmas, you can practically FEEL how much they need each other. Last round indicated the Hubb and Cher were a completely forgetable pair of characters.
Possibility for change: No

Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
vs.
Layla Hamilton & Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star

Ed & Al One of the strongest duos in this tournament.

Group C-18

Sophie Hatter & Wizard Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle
vs.
Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

I'm voting for Spike and Jet - I enjoyed the atmosphere that the two created. Each character served as a good balance for the other.

Group C-19

Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth
vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato & Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK

I'm going to stick with Sato and Misaki. One of the more tragic and interesting duos that I have witnessed to date. The way dependence played a role in their relationship was very interesting and very unique.
Group C-20

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi
vs.
Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

Miaka & Tamahome I may change this later. I am going by the guide.

Group C-21

Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender
vs.
Lum & Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura

While I'm not familiar with either one Lum & Ataru.

Group C-22

Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers
vs.
James & Jessie from Pokemon

Jessie and James one of the strongest comic relief duos that I have ever seen. I also can't seem to get the team rocket oath out of my head.

Group C-23

Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson from Trigun
vs.
Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon
Meryl & Milly--- They are show stoppers whenever they make an appearance. I really enjoyed watching their interactions with the rest of the cast.

Group C-24

Hubb & Cher from Wolf’s Rain
vs.
Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

Christmas & Kurau The support for these two is unparalleled.

Group C-17

Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
vs.
Layla Hamilton & Sora Naegino from Kaleido Star

Voting for: Edward & Alphonse
Reason: Sorry, but no one beats out the brothers who sacrifice and do so much for each other.

Group C-18

Sophie Hatter & Wizard Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle
vs.
Spike Spiegal & Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Voting for: Sophie & Howl

Reason: I maintain that I did not receive any vibe from Spike & Jet as a duo, merely as two friends who have lived together and mutually benefited and grown; there was no sense of dependency. Howl and Sophie were absolutely cute.

Group C-19

Zagato & Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth
vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato & Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK

Voting for: Sato & Misaki

Reason: well, no need to reiterate my ferocious campaigning from last round, I just wish a die-hard fan like Kirkdawg would show up every once in a while to back me up. I felt an incredibly strong connection between these two.

Group C-20

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi
vs.
Batou & Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC

Voting for: Batou & Motoko

Reason: I'm not 100% happy with this choice, because, as with Spike & Jet I don't feel too much dependency here (although more than S & J).

Group C-21

Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender
vs.
Lum & Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura

Voting for: Yuji & Marlene

Reason: Everybody else.

Group C-22

Juubei Kakei & Kazuki Fuchoin from Getbackers
vs.
James & Jessie from Pokemon

Voting for: Juubei & Kazuki

Reason: I'm just doing it to make Psycho happy since I don't care either way.

Group C-23

Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson from Trigun
vs.
Rock & Revy from Black Lagoon

Voting for: Rock & Revy

Reason: Of all the action-but-not-lovers duos in this round which try to achieve a sense of companionship, here we have the couple that finally does it. Rock is Revy's only softspot and the only one who can talk back to her, illustrated by that unforgettable scene where he spoiler[confronts her about her life's motivation and they get into such a realistic shouting match at that outdoor restaurant- so realistic that it sent shivers down my spine. You know those arguments you have with someone in your family or with a lover where you end up shouting a nasty, ugly truth at them about their personality that it just crosses the line? They are able to have that argument.]. I love them.

Group C-24

Hubb & Cher from Wolf’s Rain
vs.
Christmas & Kurau from Kurau Phantom Memory

Voting for : Christmas & Kurau

Reason: blow out

Alright, I know 90% of these guys!

Group C-17
Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist vs.
Sora Naegino and Layla Hamilton from Kaleido Star vs.
Voting for: Ed & Al
Reason: It's AWESOME. No freaking explanation can I add.
Possibility for change: NO.

Group C-18
Howl and Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle vs.
Spike Spiegal and Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop
Voting for: Spike and Jet
Reason: Just watched the movie again recently. I mentioned that Spike and Jet have a complicated, realistic relationship in my defense of them. I didn't really mention that it's also barely explored because of the foursome dynamic of the ship changing everything three to nine episodes in. Still, I can't deny that Howl and Sophie have a fairytale romance that's endearing and beautiful...but not particularly true to "real" life. It's a Beauty and the Beast story. This is a killer decision for me to make, but since I love both couples I have to choose the tragically realistic one with two secretive guys leading different lives on the same ship.
Possibility for change: Mmmmm. No. Even if the matchup sucks.

Group C-19
Emeraude and Zagato from Magic Knight Rayearth vs.
Tatsuhiro Sato and Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK
Voting for: Tatsuhiro & Misaki
Reason: I kind of like the concept behind this couple more, although these are two of the few shows in this lineup I haven't seen a single episode of...
Possibility for change: Decent.

Group C-20
Miaka and Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi vs.
Motoko and Batou from Ghost in the Shell
Voting for: Motoko & Batou
Reason: Mmmm...this is HARD. I like both, but it seems like Motoko and Batou had more depth as a couple, at the very least. Both seem very close.
Possibility for change: Decent.

Group C-21
Marlene and Yuji from Blue Gender vs.
Lum and Ataru from Urusei Yatsura
Voting for: Marlene & Yuji
Reason: I hear a lot of good repor for these two.
Possibility for change: Fair

Group C-22
Kazuki and Juubei from Getbackers vs.
Jessie and James from Pokemon
Voting for: Jessie and James
Reason: Because they're too iconic to say no to. I haven't seen Getbackers, but didn't recognize the names/faces, so it can't be that iconic by comparison. Besides that, it's...oh no...it's coming...someone stop me...too late!

PREPARE FOR TROUBLE!
MAKE IT DOUBLE!
TO PROTECT THE WORLD FROM DEVASTATION
TO UNITE ALL PEOPLES WITHIN OUR NATION
TO DENOUNCE THE EVILS OF TRUTH AND LOVE
TO EXTEND OUR REACH TO THE STARS ABOVE
JESSIE!
JAAAAAMES!
TEAM ROCKET BLASTS OFF AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT!
SURRENDER NOW OR PREPARE TO FIGHT!
(Meowth! That's right!)

Possibility for change: Low-ish.

Group C-23
Millie Thompson and Meryl Strife from Trigun vs.
Rock and Revy from Black Lagoon
Voting for: Meryl and Millie
Reason: I'm a little disappointed that Wolfwood and Vash got the big boot, but Millie and Meryl reflect their strong points in many ways. They work well as a comic duo but dramatically balance each other out and develop each other as three-dimensional characters in a cartoony world. If I remember correctly, Rock and Revy, while a good-looking duo, barely squeaked by in the first round.
Possibility for change: Nope.

Group C-24
Hubb and Cher from Wolf's Rain vs.
Kurau and Christmas from Kurau Phantom Memory
Voting for: Kurau & Christmas
Reason: As previously stated, Hubb and Cher were my favorite part of Wolf's Rain, but I'm afraid they can't hold up to a powerhouse duo here. I'm surprised they got two votes.
Possibility for change: Nope.

Group C-17
Voting for: Edward & Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
Reason: I do hear the arguments for Sora and Layla, but I can't not vote for the unstoppable Elric bros. They were a great match, though.

Group C-18
Voting for: Howl & Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle
Reason: I don't even know how Spike and Jet got this far. I've never once considered them much of a duo. Honestly, I don't really care for either choice, but I feel Howl and Sophie have a slight edge this time.

Group C-19
Voting for: Emeraude & Zagato from Magic Knight Rayearth
Reason: I'm sorry I can't help you out a bit here, rainbowcourage, but I feel Emeraude and Zagato are stronger because of what they went through to be with each other.

Group C-20
Voting for: Motoko Kusanagi & Batou from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Reason: Golly, this was kinda hard. I guess that I prefer to see the more interesting Motoko and Batou relationship move forward.

Group C-21
Voting for: Yuji Kaidou & Marlene Angel from Blue Gender
Reason: Based on other arguments.

Group C-22
Voting for: Jessie & James from Pokemon
Reason: I didn't really have to think about this one. Arguing against this one would be like arguing against the A!MG duo when voting for F17. (lol cheap shot) Razz

Group C-23
Voting for: Meryl Stryfe & Milly Thompson from Trigun
Reason: Also based on other arguments. These two are a more convincing duo.

Group C-24
Voting for: Kurau & Christmas from Kurau Phantom Memory
Reason: It makes me sick that Hubb and Cher won last time considering how forgettable they were. Kurau and Christmas easily dominate this one, though, even if Vincent and Real had won.
