Like Excel Saga, the anime version's so hilarious, it makes the manga look like fan-fiction. Anyone else feel the same way?

I haven't had a chance to see the anime version yet, but I read the first five volumes or so of Wallflower and....well...really disliked it. It has a great premise, but the only character that was really interesting was Sunako, and she kept getting shoved to the side for the "bishounen", who are some of the ugliest anime guys I've EVER seen. I'm not at all surprised to hear that someone thinks Nabeshin's anime improved on the source material.
