First time looking at one of these ...

What is "Average Household Rating" based on? Is it what the viewers thought of it? Is it how many people watched it?

Cheers

Sazae-san(the first on the list) for example has a 21.2 Average Household Rating. I suppose that 21.2 could be translated into 21.2% of all television sets in use. Basically, it's a way of calculating the audience. It's really important, because then the higher they get, the more they'll be getting for commercials.

Thanks, yeah it's important, i just didn't know what that statistic was in relation to.

If they added % or something then it would be pretty self-explanatory.

An added percentage could be misleading. Perhaps without it people would actually bother researching what it actually means, getting a more accurate answer.
