WTH!!! can't we just enjoy something good and not wine and bitch at every little detail. I must say that the Anime and Managa industry are some of the most uptight and precision Grumpy networks out there. I mean seriously, if the mangaka used a picture that he or she didn't seem to know belonged to someone else, just say sorry and pay for the damages and get on with your life not shut down the whole story for some messily few photos. If anything those images served as free advertisements.

i was thinking of getting Stary Sky in Sping for the psp >A>;; maybe i should in case it goes out of print too? ahaha...

though IMO i think the artist is at fault... i mean really it's not that hard to find and pay for stock images to use and not have this issue at all. And being a pro... honestly i think she should know that. o3o

Edit: :< ohh???? so they were stock photos? then whats the issue? if she paid for them shouldn't it be fine?

The links after the "Update" all either 404 or say no image specified sans the very last one "10314315" and the link to the imagenavi website.

I really freaking hope that this doesn't affect Starry Sky. I've been looking forward to that anime for quite some time. All she did were the character designs and backgrounds for that though right? I dont see how on earth that would keep the anime from airing when its a whole nother animation studio now doing what she was doing for the actual anime.

This is weird issue. my only advice is to change the final art, not just copy it entirely (change angle, add, change stuff on it, etc). You're suppossed to use those photos as reference, not trace it.

Oh, that’s rich. With all the unauthorized scanning and reading that goes on, READERS - not industry people - tattled? No shame! hahahahahahahaha, a laugh too big for a mere lol.

I think in this case, there has to be a level of originality from the creator in producing a product. If it's found out that they've copied them, then it completely ruins the originality of the work.

Of course, we have Hollywood, who obviously have forgotten about the word "originality" as of late. Hawaii Five-0, 5 episodes in, and they have had two episodes with Human Trafficking/Sex Slavery subplots. Um, so, when will Steve and Danno bust a can of whupass on some Methheads or Homeless Scum?

The stock photos are clearly traced as basis for the images but they are changed quite a bit. I don't know the licensing laws here and I know many artists use images like these for inspiration or as bases for their own works. None of these examples are a 100% copy - so where's the line on inspired vs. infringement?

This is worse than tracing. I saw this story at Sankaku Complex (no link, NSFW site), that shows the covers clearly have the WATERMARKS from some of the pictures used, as well as shadows from where the picture had people standing (the people were gone, but their shadows weren't)

lol googling the title only brings up articles about how the manga was ripping off existing images. I guess no publicity is bad publicity, ask Nick Simmons!

Well, if they paid to use the stock images, I don't see the problem. That's what such resources are for. Though that doesn't sound like the case here. It sounds like the artist swiped it without permission. Sounds like a case of Greg Land artwork.

Its not traced or changed, the original photos are placed in the background overlapping eachother, its not even drawn, its placed as is. I think thats why these covers are very unoriginal. If this artist was planning to use photos as a background, should've just taken it themselves, not just pull something random already published photos.
