Oh yeah, and don't buy those bootlegs. Download it if you want, but never never nevernevernever buy a bootleg. Phuck, I'd rather rip you my Blu-rays then see you spend $30 on that garbage. The money made from those goes to deviant shit like drugs and molestation. |
*sigh* You know, there's a really easy way to get a bootleg and not pay for it...
Order it on eBay. Wait til you get it. After you get it, the item you get will usually look different than pictured on the seller's page (considering it's a bootleg, of course). Snap some photos. Then contact the seller, shouting in all-caps that you got ripped off. If it's some guy from Hong Kong or Malaysia or whatever, he most likely won't respond. At that point, you contact eBay support, show them the pics, say you got jipped and didn't know you'd be getting a bootleg, and request a refund. 99% of the time, you'll get a refund without a resend. Meaning, you keep the bootleg and your money.
If you want my professional opinion, there's absolutely no shame in scamming a scammer.

While there isn't any shame in it I still have to question the morality in doing that. I mean sure the bootlegger is scum but that doesn't mean it's ok to scam him back, its cliché but two wrongs don't make a right. Besides if it wasn't for my annoyingly self-righteous sense of morality i would have already torrent-ed this series long ago. However as it stands I'll probably hold out till the end of the year to see if there is any news of another official release I can get my claws on. After that however I can't be held responsible for my actions...

Pssshh! Morality? Sanity? Ethnics!? Nothing but transparent variables.
I don't let faint variables interfere with results. It's results I believe in. And science!
Besides. These bootleggers...lately, it's like they don't even try to bootleg properly. The whole point is to make it look legit. But they can't even be bothered with that. The Kara no Kyoukai bootleg I have? The digipak tray is utterly bullshit. It's all warped, and doesn't fit the discs right. Would it kill them to get some proper digipaks?
...Well, okay. One guy might die. They are a criminal organization after all. But, hell, what's one guy....when in the name OF SCIENCE!?

Why the heck would you buy crappy ass boot DVDs when you can download the infinity times better looking Blu-ray rips?? Don't even waste your time man. Get the BD rips, then buy the set when Aniplex makes it available again.
Do you just want to own some sort of physical copy?? Burn your rips.

I considered doing that. Kodak glossy photo paper works wonders for DVD covers. (I did you show my No More Heroes 2 cover that I printed, right?)
Buuuut, as you recall, I bought the bootleg because I had a plan. Which I chickened out of. So now I have a useless bootleg DVD.

[Expletive deleted - and this is the second time I've done this. Watch it. - Key] DVD. KnK was ment for the glory of Blu-ray. Maybe you can find some digipak packaging lying around, strip em down, and add your own artwork to it.
Ooo ya know what, I have those slightly defective books lying around. The actual artbox and the felt covered disc book. The artbox is barely curled, and the disc book lettering hasn't scratched off. You want em?
EDIT: Sorry Key, but I can't remember the expletive I used. If I my comment offended someone, can you please message me so I know not what to say from now on? Thanks.

I just want to be able to watch the show in a manner that i feel is morally acceptable, and feel that I've given back to the industry. Is that so much to ask?

Sorry man I was replying to JC. I wasn't trying to offend you. It seems that buying the Blu-ray box would meet your needs, morally and physically. Want me to keep an eye on auctions for you? Be prepared to drop an easy $700.

=_=;;
Well, I guess lol. If you want to give me a...warped box, sure, I'll take it lol. If anything...damn pretty coverart.
Hm. Maybe I can put in proper blu-rays in it when they're released. :3

Dude...there's no such thing as morality. It's a word created in the facet of political correctness. And political correctness is entirely based around popular vote, more or less. A sociological psyche. Caving in to "morality" is essentially caving in to people who say how one should live based on their own personal demands. And all in order to elevate their own status.
Morality, ethnics, good, evil, proper, improper, fair, unfair, etc etc. They're all based around a sociological psyche, and henceforth bullshit. There are only two things worth believing in: Balance, and imbalance.
Go for balance.

PM me your shipping info. I'll send them out Monday. Put your boots in it for now until you download the BD rips.
The box isn't really that bad, IMO. It's like very very minimally curled. I'm sure if you set something heavy on it, it would set itself back to normal. It comes in a plastic baggy too.
EDIT: I think damien should buy the BD box. The "happy feeling" will be well earned

FWIW, the official retailers were Bandai Ent. The Store and TRSI.
And since the release had been OOP, TRSI has re-stocked (from returns, canceled orders maybe?) 1 copy on some rare occasions. 1 copy was sold a couple days ago @ $499.99.

I'm pretty sure they plan to rerelease the series again soon since the the Durarara DVDs (also Aniplex) have promos for it and those came out after the KNK set sold out completely and all locations. Otherwise go sue them for false advertising. Maybe they'll print one up for you and you wont have to go to court.
At any rate, you can't have mine. *Clutches it with crazy shifty eyes*

I thought the same thing when I saw the KNK preview in the extra's section. There has to be something to it. I don't think they would be advertising a property they don't plan to release otherwise. Hopefully, they will announce something soon.

Yeah, except it clearly stated that it was the same Blu-Ray set we've known.
On top of it really being the exact same Japanese trailer for the set, with the only difference being artifacted subtitles and the aniplex USA URL at the end.
